**** FROM THE PASTOR ****
4TH SUNDAY OF LENT
My dear brothers and sisters, our journey of Lent is nearly ended. Next Sunday is Palm – Passion Sunday. It will mark the
beginning of Holy Week the most sacred time of the Church Year. Today ‘s Gospel takes place right after Jesus triumphant entry
into Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday and before the Last Supper. We hear our Lord saying to us, through the Apostles, that:
“The Hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” He is preparing them for the events of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and
Easter Sunday.
As we prepare for the celebration of Holy Week let us use this final week to spiritually and mentally prepare ourselves for the great
mystery of the Passion of Christ. Let us try to focus on putting aside our sinful ways and praying for the grace to share in Our Lord’s
Passion with hearts renewed. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the best spiritual preparation we can make for our participation
in Holy Week.
Communal Penance Service
Speaking of the Sacrament of Reconciliation our Deanery Communal Penance Service is this Monday, March 19th, at 7:30 pm at
St. John’s Church in Hillsdale. Priests from all the parishes in our Deanery will join to hear confessions.
School Rental
I am happy to announce that we have signed a lease with the North Jersey Friendship House for the rental of our school. The
Friendship House offers services for young Autistic adults. They offer Day Treatment and Supported Employment Services. Their
program strives to help their members enhance their emotional growth and develop the skills necessary to function comfortably and
productively in the community. Let us welcome them into our Parish.
Casino Night Thank You
We want to thank all of those who supported and attended our Casino Night, making it a great success. We wish to thank in a
Special way our “Casino Night Committee” led by our Co-chair people John Brunelli and Claudia Carroll. They put many long
hours into the planning of the night and in bringing it together. Without the help of all our dedicated volunteers, and you know who
you are, it would not have been the great success it was.
HOLY WEEK MASS OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
We are looking for volunteers to have their feet washed at the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper. This mass will be on Holy
Thursday, March 29th, at 7:30 pm. If you are interested call the rectory and give your name to Fr. Steve or Fr. Ray.
May God, bless you,
Fr. Stephen Cinque
STEWARDSHIP
The budgeted amount per week is $10,000.00. The collection
for March 10th and 11th was $7,049.00, leaving a deficit of
$2,951.00. The Peter’s Pence collection amounted to
$1,772.00. Thank you for your support.
PRAYER INTENTION FOR THE WEEK OF MAR 18TH
Let us pray this week that those who have gone astray from their
faith may during these holy days of Lent and Holy Week come
home to the Lord and be reconciled to their faith.
REQUIESCANT IN PACE
Raymond John husband of Doris and father of Raymond and
Kevin Johns and Susie Maccaro.
William Ayrovainen husband of Catherine and father of Mary
