• Claire Haverkampf, RN, and husband Stan, founded Marklund in 1954 in their Northlake home when began caring for newborn Mark William Lund
• Opened Marklund Children’s Home in Bloomingdale in 1957 as number of clients needing care continued to grow
• Opened Marklund Day School in 1991
• Opened 20-acre Marklund at Mill Creek campus in Geneva in 2002 with four homes; 2 more added in 2006
