Course Requirements

•Students currently taking Math 6 will be enrolled in Math 7.•Students currently taking Math 6 H will be enrolled in Math 7 H.•Students currently taking Math 7 will be enrolled in Math 8. •Students currently enrolled in Math 7 H will be enrolled in Algebra 1 H.
Algebra 1 Honors•Students must maintain an average of 70 (or above) for each semester. •If a student finishes the first semester with an average below 70, the student will be removed from Algebra 1 H and placed in Math 8. •A student moving from Algebra 1 H to Math 8 at any point during the year will be placed in Algebra 1 again in the 9th grade. •Students will receive Algebra 1 H credit that will be recorded on their high school transcript and grade points each semester. ***
Power Math
A supplemental Math class will be offered for students needing extra help.
Placement will be determined by:
MAP, CogAT, and STAAR scores.

Power Reading (2 semesters).

CogAT Verbal scores
Final placement decisions for reading will be made after STAAR scores are in.

• Project Based Learning Curriculum
• Emphasis on Humanities (Philosophy, Theatre, Music, Dance, Art, Architecture, Literature)
• Open enrollment in the spring is based on a preponderance of evidence, including testing, teacher recommendations, grades and student initiative.
• Students who are currently enrolled in PACE do not re-test in Middle School.

Everyone must take at least one semester of PE in 7th grade.
Athletics
Athletics is a year long commitment.
Rigorous physical activity aimed at preparing students for participation in high school Athletics.
Boys Athletics is 1st period.
Girls Athletics is 7th period.
Boys Athletics: football, basketball and track/C.C.
Girls Athletics: volleyball, basketball and track/C.C.
7TH Grade AthleticsApplication Process/Off Season Demonstration
Boys: All fall boy enrollees are expected to play Football. Basketball only players will try out in mid-November and if he makes the team his schedule will be changed. Track only will enroll for Spring semester.
Girls: All have the option of trying out for their sport, then having their schedule changed or registering for year long off season Athletics. All off season participants are expected to participate in one sport.
8TH Grade Athletics
Boys: All Fall boy enrollees are expected to play Football. Basketball only players will try out in mid-November and if he makes the team his schedule will be changed. Track only will enroll for Spring semester.
Girls: Anyone who previously made a 7th
grade Athletic team may enroll in Athletics. Those who have not made a previous team may tryout then have a schedule change.
