Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to the staff and students at St Teresa’s Catholic College for the warm and powerful farewell prayer service on Friday 4th November led by the student leaders for 2017.
I would like to thank Mr David McInnes (Principal) for his kind words, to Br Paul (past Principal), Alain Pitot (Foundation Principal 2004) to Br Daniel (St Thomas More past Principal), and to Patrick Finch (foundation student of 2004) for taking time out to send messages of gratitude. Also thanks to Marcus Pojtek (APRE) and to Amanda Murray - Salter for presenting the beautiful gift with the College Captains Madison Mikletic and Maconachy Smith. The Icon pictured here was painted by Warren Salter, a local Noosa Artist, and it depicts St Teresa of Avila in her most famous pose with the writing quill and the image of the Holy Spirt inspiring the Saint in her writings. I will keep in my prayers each and every member of the College community as like living stones are inspired by St Teresa to live a faith-filled life in the presence of the loving God.
Congratulations to the following couples who are renewing their Wedding Vows this weekend: Christine and Philip Barry, Patricia and Richard Creighton, Mary and Francis Jayaraj, Izabela and Michael Ptak, Aileen and Noel Ruff, Jill and Peter Smith, Tricia and Patrick Walton, Alina and Bill Wojtowicz
Please remember to pray for each other during the coming week. Fr Mark Franklin

First round of External Audit Report Released
This week, the Archdiocese released the independent, external audit report on the
implementation of the Safeguarding Policy. While all parishes throughout the
Archdiocese are internally audited annually, this is the first round of independent,
external audits to be commissioned by the Archbishop. Hanrick-Curran, an authorised
auditing firm, was engaged to conduct the audit and their office selected from the list of
eligible parishes. To be eligible Parishes had to have completed the initial
implementation processes and conducted at least one internal audit.
The Audit report and the list of 12 recommendations may be found on the Archdiocesan website. The Safeguarding
team wish to express their sincere thanks to the parishes involved for their time and openness.

THE YEAR OF MERCY CONCERT
I have been inundated with congratulatory emails and phone calls from many
people throughout the Parish expressing their joy and delight for a most uplifting
experience on Saturday 29th October 2016 at the Songs of Mercy Concert.
They commented on everything from the beautiful aqua scarves Zita supplied to
all choir members and musicians to provide a cohesive look; to the wonderful
variety in the programme of songs selected, where I was so wonderfully assisted
by Erica Marshall; to the ingenious way my niece, Sara Wainwright, created with
her violin an imaginary magic musical carpet to allow us all to be transported
around the world to the various countries of our songs, allowing me to set the
background and introduce each of the Mercy songs. The Combined Choir
performed splendidly, and we are so grateful to members of the Noosa Chorale
and the Laguna Choir for their contributions, thank you dear friends. This
Concert gave us all a lot of pleasure to practice and to deliver such a great
programme. The musicians shared their roles magnificently that their swapping
around was completely seamless. The parishioners did join in and were truly
uplifted by the experience. It was a most joyous event. The fact that it was a
thank you to all parish volunteers of the parish was a lovely sentiment, but this
was added to by the fact that we were also saying many thanks to both Fr Mark
and Fr Isidore, who have been appointed to new parishes on 3rd December 2016.
The enthusiasm that was shown by all, is testimony to the regard our two pastors
are held in the parish. This event was followed by a splendid Afternoon Tea in
the Church Hall, organized by Fred Harrison and her catering team. Just
delicious!
I would like to offer my personal thanks as Co-coordinator of this event, to all
who made this performance possible. This particularly must apply to Erica
Marshall, to Maria and Elaine and Michael of the Parish Office who helped with
printing programmes, sorting out music copyright, performing sound checks and
setting up the Church and finally, my liaison with Fr. Isidore to the Parish Office
to keep everyone in the loop. My best regards and warmest wishes to you all.
