Part L: Experience Statement for Domestic Builder (limited to Insulation work)
How to fill out this statement
STEP 1
Read about the skills, knowledge and experience that you need to
demonstrate to the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) if you are
applying for registration in the class of Domestic Builder (limited to
Insulation work).

STEP 1. Learn about skills, knowledge and experience that you need
Qualifications
If you have successfully completed the following qualification, you will
satisfy some of the technical knowledge required for Insulation work:
• Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling lining (CPC31211), including the
below required units of competency:
o Install batt insulation products (CPCCPB3014A)

o Install ceiling insulation (CPCCPB3027A)
Other relevant units of competency include:
o Arrange building applications and approvals (CPCCBC4026A)
o Produce labour and material schedules for ordering (CPCCBC4005A)
o Select and prepare a construction contract (CPCCBC4003A).
If you have not completed this certificate, the VBA will assess your
Insulation knowledge against the competencies included in the certificate.
Experience
So the VBA can assess whether you have the required experience in this
component of domestic building work, you should provide a portfolio
(tables 1, 2 and 3) of evidence that demonstrates your experience. This
evidence must show you can carry out, and arrange or manage the carrying
out of all the activities associated with Insulation work in a competent
manner and to a professional standard.
Your portfolio should include evidence of:
• your experience in the areas that you tick in table 1
• your participation in Insulation work for the three different residential
projects that you note in table 2. This work must cover your use of at
least two different types of insulation material, and a mix of:
o the installation of ceiling thermal insulation to class 1 and 2buildings as defined by the Building Code of Australia (BCA)
o the installation of wall thermal insulation to class 1 and 2 buildingsas defined by the BCA
o the installation of acoustic thermal insulation to class 1 and 2buildings as defined by the BCA
• your knowledge and application of the National Construction Code and
relevant Australian Standards.
