Christ’s Love – Know It Show It
Have you ever wished you knew more about the Chris7an Faith? Or, do you want to
go more deeply into what you already know? Chris7anity is many things. It is one of
the world’s great religions. It is a way of life. It is a community gathered around the
belief that God acted uniquely in Jesus Christ to save the world. All these things are
true about Chris7anity.
But have you ever thought about Chris7anity as a story – a story about God, about
the world, about human beings, and about the rela7onship between all three? The
Chris7an Faith at a basic level is a story that tries to make sense of just about every-
thing – where things came from, what meaning and purpose we have, where things
are going, and more.
On Sunday, October 14th
we will be kicking off a congrega7on wide emphasis, Making
Sense of the Chris'an Faith. This series is one way we are living out our vision “to be
a community where everyone knows Christ’s love and shares Christ’s love with all peo-
ple.” This emphasis is based on David Lose’s book, Making Sense of the Chris"an
Faith.
You are encouraged to take part in our congrega7on-wide emphasis of Making Sense
of the Chris"an Faith as we grow together in knowing and showing our story. We will
be joining together in worship, confirma7on, church school and small groups to
“make sense” of the Chris7an faith.
There are many opportuni7es to know Christ’s love and share it with our families,
friends, and the world. We hope you will join us!
God’s Peace!

As we prepare for the annual fall
pledge drive, we on the Steward-
ship Team ask the following ques-
7on, "Why is it important to make
a financial pledge to the church?”
Here are some responses put forth:
• Pledging is an effec7ve way to
make giving a spiritual disci-
pline.
• Pledging is a way to keep your-
self accountable.
• Pledging is a way to prac7ce
first fruits giving by determining
an amount ahead of 7me that
is dedicated to the Lord.
Pledging is a way to follow the Bi-
ble's teaching that each one should
personally set aside an amount to
give, as can be seen in the verse on
the right from 2 Corinthians 9:7.
This verse teaches that it is a per-
sonal decision to determine the
amount you give to the Lord. It is
also a personal decision to deter-
mine the aNtude with which you
give.
In November, our congrega7on will
once again be given pledge cards
and asked to prayerfully consider
making a financial pledge to the
church’s General Fund for the up-
coming year. Historically, only
about 30% of those involved in our
church return these cards. We
would love to see this percentage
increase. If you have never made a
pledge before we ask that you re-
flect on the Bible's teaching and
consider making a pledge this year.
Look for more informa7on to focus
on in the coming weeks during
worship and in the mail as we all
strive together to become more
cheerful givers.
— The Stewardship Team
Your church leadership is proposing changes to
the Cons7tu7on and Bylaws for Word of Peace.
The primary goal of this effort is to make us
more efficient and bePer able to handle the
increasingly complex management of our
church as the result of recent and an7cipated
future growth.
The approach used was to separate the du'es
of church opera'ons (governance) and church
ministry. No changes are being proposed to
the cri'cal role that the Ministry Teams play in
the church. Their func7on con7nues to be to
support our Vision and Mission across all areas
of the church.
You may view the Cons7tu7on and Bylaws with
mark-ups in their en7rety by visi7ng our web-
site, www.wordofpeace.org/Cons7tu7on. In
addi7on, there are copies of the proposed changes available at the Infor-
ma7on Desk.
If you have ques7ons or comments about the process or any of the pro-
posed changes, we invite you to aPend an Informa7on Session and/or a
