Morning private transfer to the Airport of Lima for your flight
to Cusco.
On arrival in Cusco your guide will be waiting for you to transfer
to the Sacred Valley of the Inca, enjoy a 1.30hours scenic drive.
On your way you will have the opportunity to visit
Awanakancha, where you will learn the tradition of weaving, a
private initiative that brings together 14 rural communities, in
which textiles made by the people of these communities are on
display. Besides the exposition of weavings, the Awanakancha
also has a display of the different types of indigenous camelids:
the llama, the vicuña, the guanaco (though the latter is
currently in danger of extinction).
Then we will make a stop at the local village of Pisac, famous
for its colorful market which attracts tourists from all over the
world to try their hand at bartering for local sweaters, ponchos,
wall hangings, jewellery and goods.
Continue to your hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas for
check in.
Rest of the day will be at your leisure for an easy
acclimatisation to altitude.
Day includes: Breakfast
Day excludes: Lunch/Dinner
Day 3
Your full day tour today will start with a visit to Moray. The
main feature that impresses is its system of circular agricultural
terraces, which are up to 330 feet deep. They are build using
retaining walls connected by an irrigation system. Moray can be
considered a crop lab– they used the terraces to create micro-
climates and grow various products.
We will continue on to Maras, the salt mines, or the famous "salt
pools" The salt mines of Maras are still in use today. These days
there are thousands of pools, or pocitos, with each pocito
yielding around 150 kilograms of salt per month. You can visit
the salt mines and explore them along narrow paths. It’s
fascinating to watch locals harvest the salt, a process that
hasn’t changed in thousands of years.
Lunch today will be at Hacienda Huayoccari, tucked away in the
lush, vegetation-filled private estate of the Lambarri-Orihuela
family in the village of Huayoccari. The Hacienda houses the
owners private collection of pre-Colombian, Incan and colonial
artefacts including an impressive collection of ‘Qeros’ the
traditional drinking vessels. Browse through the interesting
museum with a welcome pisco sour in hand before heading into
the dining area.
After lunch, we will continue to Ollantaytambo, a lovely village
that preserves the designs of Inca buildings. Among this place's
most impressive attractions are the ceremonial temple in
worship of water and a fortress that guarded the entrance to
the valley to repel any invasions. The fortress is a stone colossus
that was built between two mountains to protect the valley.
Day includes: Breakfast/ Box-Lunch
Day excludes: Dinner
Sol y Luna
Surrounded by the mountains, at a short distance from Machu
Picchu, Sol Y Luna gathers both the cultural and natural
diversity of the country in an exquisite experience of contrast.
Each of the forty-three casitas is surrounded by gardens filled
with flora native to the Sacred Valley and all face the Andes
Mountains where the Incas believed their gods dwelled.
Rooms range from superior to premium, each featuring heating,
safe box, telephone, and bathrobes. Using the products of every
local harvest guests can enjoy delicate gastronomy respecting
original flavours. Amenities include the Yacu Wasi Spa, heated
