Parents of Kids with Infectious Diseases
supporting families/safeguarding public health
Somewhere in the world, every 13 seconds, a child
under the age of five dies of a vaccine-preventable disease.
There are between 60,000 and 150,000 children and teens chronically infected
with hepatitis C in the U.S.
An estimated 1.25 million Americans are chronically
infected with hepatitis B, 20 to 30 percent of whom
were infected during childhood.
As of 2004, there were approximately 8,635 youth under the age of 20 living
with HIV/AIDS in the United States of America.
“Should I tell my son’s teacher he has hepatitis C?”
“Should my asymptomatic daughter
be on treatments?”
“Who else has this disease besides me?”
“My child was just diagnosed. What
should I do?”
“Do I need the hepatitis B vaccine?”
“How do I know vaccines are safe for my
baby?”
“How can I teach my students healthy
prevention habits?”
“Can infected children still play
sports?”
“Where can I get the support I need?”
“What is CMV?”
“Can my kids go to camp?”
“Can my child get HIV from other kids
at his daycare?”
