Age Sex Pyramids
• Portrays gender and age.• They are a good indicator of development• Used to study the demographic
characteristics of individual groups in an area
• Data should always be expressed as percentages of total pop’n and not as absolute numbers

Used to show rates of changed rates of growth

Often used to illustrate time series for set places

Use to measure totals out of a total percentage

• Louis Moss the father of the UK census, a committed socialist. worked for the Ministry of Information and was one of a number of social scientists known as "Cooper's Snoopers" - named after the wartime Minister of Information Alfred Duff-Cooper.
• Duff-Cooper is said by literary experts to have been the model for the original "Big Brother" in George Orwell's novel 1984. His Ministry of Information, which during the war had an official propaganda role, was the model of the Ministry of Truth in the powerful satire.
