HOW TO BEAT EXAMINATION STRESS Do you sweat as the date of your examinations approaches? Is the lack of calmness causing you to under-perform?
Here is some advice to tide over those anxious moments!
TOP 4 SUMMER SKIN TIPSAs you prepare to show more skin, get ready to face the sun’s rays with our top 4 summer skin tips!
1. Exfoliate for clearer, smoother skinWhat it does: Exfoliation removes dead, dulling skin debris to prevent congestion and improve hydration from toners and moisturizers. When: Perform in the mornings prior to toner, moisturizer, SPF and make-up application. Tip: Make-up will last longer on an exfoliated skin!
2. Keep skin hydratedHow: Up your regimen’s level of hydration with intensive masques, perfect for use one to two times a week. Boosters are a great fit, working best when layered underneath a moisturizer. Toners are a refreshing moisturizer prep, working to even out skin porosity. Tip: Refresh with a revitalizing toner spritz at your desk, in the car or at the gym.3. Make friends with H20Why: Higher temperatures and more time
outdoors leads to internal dehydration, which can result in headaches and dizzy spells!4. When in doubt, apply (and reapply!)Why: It’s not enough to just apply sunscreen: you must apply enough, and apply frequently. Studies indicate that most people do not apply nearly as much daylight protection as they should. How much: A teaspoon for the face. For the body, about as much as would fill a shot glass. How often: Re-apply every two hours.
1. Start studying well before the exam. Make sure your schedule provides for sufficient revision time. As any good test-taker will tell you, the revisions are more important than the first time study.
2. Focus on understanding the concepts rather than mugging. Use mnemonics if rote learning is the only way out.
3. Think about the time after the exam. Visualize the happiness on your face when the stressful period is over. This works very well.
4. Keep reminding yourself that your hard work will not go to waste.
5. If you are afraid of tough questions, it helps to know that most questions are of average difficulty and designed to be answered correctly by most examinees.
6. Designate a “study buddy”, a classmate who is an expert in a subject you have trouble in, that you can come to with questions.
7. Get plenty of sleep. It’s way more
stressful to memorize lots of information or comprehend complicated concepts on less than 6 hours sleep.
8. Eat healthy food, since it’s often easier to function on nutritious food than junk. While sugar might be a quick source of energy, sugar lows happen pretty fast and the let-down can often be severe.
9. Exercise. Physical exercise like running, jogging or skipping for 15-20 minutes everyday will make you feel stress free and mentally fit.
10. while taking notes, use as many diagrams, graphs, figures and illustrations as possible. This helps to make several revisions at the last moment!
11. Ask a senior or more knowledgeable person to prepare sample tests for you. If practice tests are available online or in the market, go for them. Many questions are similar to or
verbatim from practice material.
12. On the day of the exam, feel happy! Think
positive and keep cool! Good
luck!

5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR POOL ALGAE FREE DURING THE SUMMER HEATWell it’s that time of year folks. Summer is here, vacations are being taken left and right, the heat is on, and for some pool owners, this all can equate to that green thing that makes pool ownership a frustrating experience … Algae!
stir up the water and debris, allowing the skimmer to catch more particles and ultimately filtering the pool better.
4. Keep an eye on your filter: This goes back to #2, but if your sand or cartridge get too clogged up, the water will slow down, which can hurt filtration as well as chlorine production...which is bad news.
5. Add an algaecide weekly: Although this isn’t always necessary, it’s another means of algae prevention, and something that certainly won’t hurt your chances of having a hassle-free summer with your pool.
So there you have it, 5 ways to keep your pool algae free during the hot summer months.
With today’s technology, there’s really no reason anyone should be having problems with algae in the first place. Here is your summer survival list of 5 keys to ensuring your pool doesn’t have problems with the “green monster” during these hot months:
1. Keep your sanitizer levels up!!! For most, this means your chlorine needs to be kept at optimal levels, all day, every day. This is also why we’re such big advocates of salt chlorine generators at River Pools, as they manage to keep a consistent level of chlorine in the pool at all times, preventing the growth of algae in the first place. And for those of you not using salt, make sure to shock your pool at least weekly during this time of year.
2. Keep the water moving: One key to remember is that algae likes to start when water stops, which is why it’s a good idea to always keep your pool water filtering. This is also why most modern pools have variable speed pumps, which allows constant water flow without the high energy usage.
3. Use the pool: Did you know often times the best way of keep a pool clean and free of debris is by swimming in it as much as possible? Yep, that’s certainly the case, and it’s because swimmers
