)he Brad$ate School was estalished d$ring the school year :0>31:0><
offering the co$rse Master of Arts in ollege )eaching. )he programme on
-achelor of Elementary Ed$cation and -achelor of Secondary Ed$cation also
started this year.
In :0>C, the new and permanent camp$s of New Era ollege
along St. (oseph Street, Milton Hills, New Era, ?$e6on ity was ina$g$rated. In
view of the then peace and order sit$ation s$rro$nding the vicinity of the Manila
amp$s, the High School #epartment and Non1+ormal Ed$cation $nit
transferred to the new camp$s in New Era, ?$e6on ity. )his ro$ght together all
the departments of the college $nder the roof of the new fo$r1storey $ilding.

)he New Era University started a year1long Silver ($ilee celeration with
the ina$g$ration of the NEU *ipa ity camp$s on a sprawling fo$r1hectare land in
-rgy. Marawoy on May =, 2///.
)he *ipa ity camp$s has fo$r $ildings, incl$ding two five1storey edifices,
$ilt on a total land area of 2;, C>; s7. meters in Villa San (ose, Marawoy, *ipa
ity. It initially offered !re1School and Elementary Ed$cation.
)he New Era University ollege of *aw opened in ($ne 2/// after theommission on Higher Ed$cation 4HEd5 granted it a permit to operate for the
first year level of the co$rse. )he opening coincided with the 2=th anniversary of
NEU, which was estalished in :0;=.
Inspired y the attainment of $niversity stat$s and motivated y the
challenge of e&cellence in ed$cation, New Era University s$mitted itself to
vol$ntary accreditation. In :00C, the Association of hristian Schools and
olleges Accrediting Agency, Inc. 4AS1AAI5 granted *evel : accreditation to

After another accreditation visit, the !re1school, Elementary and High
School #epartments were given *evel 2 recognition.
)he peacef$lness, orderliness, rotherly love and reverence for the words
of Bod that govern the day to day order of things in the school inspire the
development and ma&imi6ation of the st$dentsD potentials in different fields. )he
Elementary #epartment and the High School #epartment have garnered la$rels
in creative and o$rnalistic writing competitions in 7$i6 ees, in the performing
arts, and even in sports. A most notale achievement was when an NEU school
grader won in the United Nations !op$lation +$nd International !oster Making
ompetition held in New ork, U.S.A.

varsity teams have contri$ted players to the !hilippinesD national volleyall and

engineering grad$ates have placed in the top ten list of engineering oard

)he first time we went for the orientation to the Estrellas Ne&
are, for o$r clinical setting on the o training, I tho$ght it was
terrile I $dged the facility 7$ickly as we entered and it is
eca$se of the smell and the little spacio$s place of the clinic.
Ne&t, are the n$rses who canDt even afford to give $s a warm
welcome, they donDt even smile. I know it has nothing to do with
o$r trainings, $t I donDt think poker faces from the admin wo$ldnDt
give $s any happy spirit inside. I felt scared y that time8 it is my
second time aro$nd to e s$rro$nded y patients with severe
mental disorders, first was o$r field trip.
I felt like I donDt want to e here. E&cept when we were one
y one introd$ced to the patients, and everything has changed.
)hese patients as I talk to myself are also h$man, they can feel,
well feels to the e&treme and they give empathy too. )hey were

all smiling to $s, waving and greeting $s. I felt the warm welcome
of the patients, and my point of view has changed.
As we were introd$ced to the patients, we were also oriented
to the vision, mission and core val$es of the ne&care, that day
was also the day when one patient approached me and told me
that he likes me to e his friend. He was )atay (oel. I gave him a
warm introd$ction of myself as he came $p to me, he did the
same too. It has een a long day for the oth of $s, as we shared
o$r stories of o$r lives to each other. He told me ao$t his
ackgro$nd, how did he get here to the ne&care, who are his
friends, what are his hoies or pass time, he even opened $p to
me his family.
et, of co$rse, efore all the ac7$aintances happen, I cons$lted
first to the n$rses ao$t )atay (oel and to the other patientDs
ackgro$nd. )atay (oel was one of the patients who have a
severe schi6ophrenia disorder. %ne n$rse told me that )atay (oel
tried to kill himself with a g$n on his head, $t l$ckily the $llet
missed and )atay (oel lives. )ho$gh tatay oel still have the
disorder. I donDt know the f$rther setting of his ackgro$nd, what I

know ao$t him, is that he is nice g$y, well, to me. Even tho$gh,
his stories were kinda really o$t of reality, like he once told me
that he once fo$ght to (es$s hrist and *$cifer and he won. Etc.,
I tried to look that I elieve him, $t act$ally I was really trying
hard not to la$gh ao$t it. Anyway, we had lot of good times
together, we played chess and we were even partner for !inoy
Henyo.
I forgot to mention, that o$r gro$p, for the training were
assigned to gro$p dynamics. 'e were the responsile for the
daily activity for the patients. 'e present games and give reward
to the winner. %$r games incl$de Stop #ance, !inoy Henyo,
catch the alloon and alamansi "elay.
Mrs. Marcia Santos Estrellas, one of the owners of Estrellas Ne&
are was o$r g$ide all thro$gh o$r d$ty inside her psychiatric
ward. She e&plained well the r$les inside. She shared some

stories regards to the some patientDs case. She also help $s to
managed o$r program for o$r Sociali6ation #ay.
'e gave them isc$its for the reward and they love it.
Hansel, +ita, read pan, and so m$ch more. Everyone were
enoying every time o$r gro$p started to associate with the
patients.
'hat I like ao$t EstrellasD patients is that they are willing
and they are cooperative to the gro$p dynamics. !atients inside
like to interact. )hey will try to reach o$t for yo$. 'e spent half of
the month with the clients with o$r gro$p dynamics and everything
seemed alright y the end of May. )he relationship to the clients
even grows deeper.
Sociali6ation day, May 3/8 efore this day come, we and my
gro$p are assigned to different area, the foods, the everages,
the games and the decoration.
I was tasked y Mrs. Marcia to s$pervise the decoration part.
I o$ght the materials a week ago that will e $sed for the
sociali6ation day. I o$ght (apanese paper, colorf$l papers like art

paper, I o$ght some gl$e too, I o$ght alloons, and I o$ght
some glitters. 'e came y 2 in the afternoon in the clinic to set $p
things. I have provided already the andiritas that were going to
$se, I made it a week efore. Angel, Ano, Emman, "i66a and
(oel and I got to create more designs in the afternoon. )hen
Blocelle and the rest decoration gro$p came, and then we all
started to decorate the area.
'e created some logos that were going to $se for the
greetings, we created also some anner for the clinicDs name, and
also the school name. 'e folded some (apanese paper for the
design too. -y < in the afternoon, the food and everages arrived.
+or the food, we prepared Adoo and Spaghetti. +or the drinks,
we prepared -lack B$laman. It was delicio$s.
)he games gro$p also arrived y that time, $t there was
one prolem. )here were no pri6es. )here were no rewards for
the games, someone forgot to provide and $y it. So me and
Angel, since we were finished to decorate, we 7$ickly went to the
nearest grocery store, Savemore.
'e 7$ickly o$ght some +ita, read stick, read fan, Hansel
and some !otchi. All these were gonna e $sed as the rewards
for the game later. 'e went ack to the clinic and walked fast as

we co$ld. 'e also tho$ght that it was gonna rain, so we decided,
that since we were going to celerate the event o$tside, we
moved inside to celerate Sociali6ation instead.
As we reach o$r destination to the Estrellas, the foods were
not still arranged to the tale. And it was driving me n$ts that time,
co6 it is passed < and everything were still $nsettled. )ho$gh, I
was glad that the rented Videoke had arrived already. So the
patients were all taking their time singing and dancing.
I and some gro$p prepared the food inside. )hanked Bod
eca$se some staff from the kitchen helped $s to segregate the
foods for the patients and for the staff. Now, everything was
estalished.
'e started the event y = oDclock. 'e started y o$r games
o$tside. It kinda s$cks eca$se it didnDt rain after all. %$r first
game was !alayok. !atients are lindfolded and asked to hit the
!alayok. Everyone was enoying. )he ne&t game was the catch
the egg, ne&t was Saitan, and ne&t was talong race.
As the patients were enoying their dawn to the videoke, we
were ao$t to serve their dinner, spaghetti and adoo and a c$p
of rice pl$s their medicines. 'e, o$r gro$p mates didnDt had time

to eat, so we all $st sang a song and enoy while patients were
eating.
Seeing that they were all finished for their dinner, we sang a
little goodye song to them. Everything was appreciated here,
and I was glad it was all over. My clinical on1the1o1training was
done.
My clinical ot were costly, literally e&pensive. Since we were
the one who will provide rewards with o$r own money, $t it
doesnDt matter, I know we will e rememered.
)hanked Bod I was finally over dealing with the n$rses
inside the clinic, $t Im going to miss the patients inside. )hey
gave me so many val$es in life. )heir stories will always give
impact to me. )hey made me reali6ed that I was lessed. I will

allowance from the estalishment and we have also free meal,

company donDt have that. After the riefing they told $s to
report immediately on the date given to $s, and then I was
to$red aro$nd the $ilding so that we will know where to
log in and log o$t. After that I was immediately assign to o$r
first department which is #istrict Sale. #$ring that day as a
assistant I was really nervo$s eca$se I donDt know what to do,
$t when the secretary of the manager arrived my fears were
gone. And after that day I really have a high respect for all the
secretary in the world eca$se their task is not easy $st for $s to
e comfortale.

do it and I can finish it. After one week I was transferred in the

am emotional. And I am f$lly aware that I am not perfect and

I can say that my relationship etween the staff in the hotel
