PHILOSOPHYFIRST-CYCLE UNIVERSITY STUDY PROGRAMME and FIRST-CYCLE, COMBINED UNIVERSITY STUDY PROGRAMME

The programme is designed ac-cording to the Bologna Declara-tion. The first-cycle programme lasts three years (180 ECTS cre-dit points).During the study, students acqui-re comprehensive and in-depth, fundamental knowledge of the fundamental issues of philosophy and of different theoretical and methodological approaches of the subject. Through detailed analyses of selected philosophi-cal problems and the search for solutions to the same, through reading, analysis, the interpreta-tion of fundamental philosophical texts, a meticulous examination of

these texts’ complex arguments, and the critical use of scientific literature, students develop skills required in independent scienti-fic and professional work. The aim of the programme is to qualify graduates for scientific and professional work at research and educational institutions, for independent writing or translati-on in the fields of philosophy, the humanities, and social sciences, for work at libraries (not as libra-rians), in editorial departments of publishing and media houses, and at other cultural institutions involved in following, resear-ching, and nourishing global and

domestic philosophical and hu-manist heritage. The first-cycle, combined univer-sity study programme lasts three years (six semesters) and is worth 180 ECTS credit points in combi-nation with the second combined programme. Each of the two com-bined programmes represents exactly 50% of the study load, or 90 ECTS credit points. The com-bination of the two combined pro-grammes therefore forms a single complete study programme. This programme can be combi-ned with all accredited, combi-ned study programmes. The combined study of Philo-sophy is especially useful for professions that require high a degree of philosophical commu-nicativeness and the ability to engage in intercultural mediation (translating, working as foreign representatives, in tourism, cul-tural management, working for international organisations, edu-cation-related counselling, etc.).

The education acqui-red here also enables them to su-ccessfully work in publishing, at libraries, and for cultural institu-tions and agencies.Another notable source of emplo-yment is governmental organisa-tions, especially the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slove-nia and the Ministry of Educati-
