Background
Scheer Memorial Hospital is a mission hospital established in Banepa, Nepal, about 26 kilometers from Kathmandu. Starting as a one-room clinic in the late 1950’s, it was transformed into a hospital in 1960, building a reputation of providing excellent health care to the people of Nepal, both near and far. Although the average outpatient visit costs only 40 (US) cents, many of our patients cannot afford even that small amount. No one in need is ever turned away because of their inability to pay.
Mission
To provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered health care in accordance with international standards to women, children, and other disadvantaged populations in Nepal and surrounding areas. To train clinical professionals to the highest standards possible and foster an atmosphere of academic achievement, collegial curiosity, and a passion for service in our staff and students
