WGRSSA FOOTBALL TEAM The following students have been selected to try out for a place in the WGRSSA Football Team; Lachlan Crook, Jack McGrath, James Dungey, Dominick Johnstone-Witney, Harrison Perry, Patrick Smythe, Shakira Kimm, Ryan Young, Jai Harvey, Savanna Maunder, Jack Hall and Jack Chesterfield. Students must attend the 1st training session at Darnum Primary School on Monday 3rd June from 4pm—5pm. It is important to wear appropriate training gear. Another training session will take place on Monday 17th June (venue to be confirmed). We will play in Division Round Robin competition on Friday June 21st ( venue, times to come ) Numbers may be as high as 28 and cuts will be made as only 20 students are needed. Selection will be based on attendance, attitude , motivation and behaviour rather than talent. Students will find out if they have been successful in making the team at the first training session.
LAUGH NEWS Our new process for helping students (and
parents) monitor their home learning
through a weekly checklist in their diary is
underway. Each week students will paste in a
new home task checklist into their diaries.
Students who may not have completed a
home learning task will be asked to spend
some time in “LAUGH Club” at lunch play to
complete an unfinished task. Thanks for your
support of your student’s home learning.
PARENT -TEACHER/STUDENT DISCUSSIONS
This semester Parent—Teacher/Student
discussions will be held on Wednesday 26th
June which will be a Pupil Free day. Next
weeks newsletter will contain a booking form
to organise times.
SCHOOL LEADERS This year we have been expanding the role of our Grade 6 Leaders to provide them with more leadership responsibilities. Each week the Grade 6 Leadership Team meet with our Chaplain Rose Cook to discuss school issues and prepare the agenda for
Monday’s assembly. They are currently organising a poster competition based around our school’s REAL@ Nilma values. Students have also been involved in developing and clarifying “rules” for some lunchtime games with the students such as “Helicopter.” It has been great to see these students willing to take on leadership responsibilities.

HOMEGROUP HAPPENINGS!
You got to be kidding me, animals stuck in the hot, boring wild. I think you should say animals should be in the zoo not in the wild. Animals can get very hurt, sick or injured in the wild and will not be able to take care of their young ones. If they are sick they could faint and not be able to take care of their young babies and might die from other predators in the wild. In the zoo they will get cared for and well treated. Animals won’t get any company or much water to drink in the wild. They might not be able to find water and could die of thirst. In the wild when they are hunting they can hurt themselves but in the zoo they are well protected and fed. In the wild they have to use all there energy to hunt down their prey for food. In zoos they can relax as their food is given to them. So kids, you should want animals to be
caged in zoos not stuck in the wild. THE
END Thank you for reading. From Jordan

Time
Grade 4 have been investigating
analogue and digital time this week.
With Jamie’s current
knowledge of time
(60 minutes in an hour, 24
hours in 1 day, 365 days a
year) he independently ques-
tioned and investigated the
following:
How many minutes in 1 day?
24 hrs x 60 min= 1,440 minutes in 1 day.
How many hours in 1 year?
24hrs x 365 days = 8,760 hours in 1 year.
How many minutes in 1 year?
8760 hrs x 60 min = 525,600 minutes in 1 year.

Class Reward Craziness!
3/2C has been working really hard
to fill our REAL Values class chart
this term. We filled it on Monday and
as a grade had decided our reward
would be to watch a movie while
wearing your PJ’s and eating some popcorn! So
yesterday we watched ‘Wreck it Ralph’ and had
some popcorn. The movie was great and was
enjoyed by all. We will also be writing some
recounts about it this week in class. Well done
grade 3/2 on achieving this reward! Now to
work towards to next one…
