Heavy investment on facilitiesSS aims to integrate ICT in education so need
many high-tech facilitiesThe costs and maintenance fees for the
facilities are high
Lack of manpower in handling the technical problemSome schools do not have enough technician If technical problems occur during class,
teacher and students have to wait for the technician
Affect the teaching and learning process
Some teachers are not keen on using the courseware
They lack ICT knowledge and not comfortable with the use of hardware and courseware
Prefer traditional way of teaching which is chalk and talk
Think that using courseware is a waste of time so they rather pay more attention on parts that are related to exams
WHY???
Smart School courseware was found to be under-utilised
• Some teachers can’t teach effectively
• New teachers lack of intensive training
• Experienced teachers lack of ICT knowledge
• Still practicing teacher-centered teaching where teachers should be the facilitators and students are active learners
• One of the problems SS faced is to design teaching-learning materials that will accommodate students’ differing needs and abilities
• Courseware has to be developed for all subjects in the curriculum and to cater for the high fliers, the average and the slow
• This courseware must have discrete self-contained packages, interactive, cognitively challenging, with self-assessment and built-in checkpoints for teachers’ inputs
• Besides, there is a need to make available rapid and sustainable supply of courseware in the next year or two, and to have these constantly replenished and updated
