WHAT TYPE OF PROJECTS ARE ELIGIBLE?
•Feature Films, Creative Documentaries and Animation, for Cinema, TV, digital platforms
•The day of principal photography must not be scheduled to occur within 8 months from the date of application

ELIGIBLE DURATION OF PROJECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT
•Projects for cinema release: feature films, animations and creative documentaries minimum length 60 min
•Projects for television exploitation: Drama films min 90 min, animation min 24 min, creative documentaries min 50 min (in case of series the minimum length per episode is 25 min)
•Projects for digital platforms: Drama films min 90 min, animation min 24 min, creative documentaries min 50 min.
•NB For projects presenting a user experience in a non-linear format e.g. Virtual Reality, these minimums do not apply.

ARTISTIC MATERIAL
▪Drama: A treatment of at least 10 pages and at least one dialogue scene or a first draft preliminary script.
▪Creative documentary: A treatment of at least 2 pages, comprising a description of the subject, the narrative structure, the visual approach and the creative nature.
▪Animation: A literary bible or treatment including the description of the subject, the narrative structure, the characters and the visual approach. Key pictures/drawings should also be included.
▪For a Series: An episode outline is recommended.

WHO CAN APPLY?
•European independent audiovisual production companies legally constituted for at least 12 months
•Proven track record of a previous production with recent international commercial distribution must be demonstrated
•The applicant company must own the majority of rights related to the project. A 50/50 split is acceptable in the case of a bi-lateral co-development or co-production agreement.
Track Record
•Applicants must demonstrate that they have produced a work in the 5 years preceding the application
•and that it was distributed at international level, i.e. in at least one country other than that of the applicant since 01/01/2015

• Instead 27% of the budget has been ringfenced for applications from LPCs that reach a minimum score of 75/100

Development - Slate Funding
Support for European audiovisual companies to develop a Slate of 3 - 5 projects (plus an optional short film) intended primarily for cinema release, television
broadcasting or commercial exploitation on digital platforms in the following categories:
Animation, Creative Documentary, Fiction

•Available Budget 2018 – €12.5 million estimated
•Deadline: February 1st 2018 tbc
•Through the choice of projects the application should be envisaged as an opportunity to implement a strategic plan that reconsiders and innovates in the applicant's business activities
▪Companies may not apply for both Single and Slate
▪Beneficiaries of a Slate Funding Grant signed during the year of the publication of the Call cannot apply for Single or Slate

•To encourage emerging talent a short Film (max 20 mins) can be included in the Slate as an additional project – ie a Slate of 3-5 projects plus one short film
•€10,000 is available – up to 80% of costs including development & production costs of the short film
If a short film project is included the maximum contribution per Slate is €210,000 or €160,000 in the case of a Creative Documentary slate.

Definition of a short film and emerging talentsA short film is defined as a complete audiovisual work (animation, creative documentary or fiction) with a maximum length of 20 minutes. Previews and advertising films, pilots, trailers, teasers and demos are excluded.
An emerging talent is defined as writers, directors, producers or other crew members who have acquired some professional experience and have made work of a certain level (for instance student or self-funded films) having attracted some industry or public attention, but who have not yet made a work that has had commercial distribution and who are looking for guidance and support towards making their first commercial audiovisual work.
Applicant must also own the majority of rights related to the Short Film

• Minimum €70,000 - maximum €200,000 per slate (€210k with short film)
• In case of a slate of only Creative Documentary projects, the maximum is €150,000 per slate (€160k with short film)
• 3 to 5 projects: from €10,000 to €60,000 per project, up to maximum 50% of the project’s eligible development costs

•Proven track record of a previous production with recent commercial distribution must be demonstrated: previous work produced in last 5 years and officially released or broadcast at least in 3 foreign countries since01/01/2015
•Companies established in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom must prove the production and distribution of 2 eligible previous works.

▪To improve the competitiveness of the European video games industry by increasing its capacity to develop European Audiovisual works with a high circulation potential both in the EU and beyond.
▪Substantial narrative component throughout the game required

▪Funding available - between €10,000 and €150,000 for the concept and project development of the game
▪Available Budget for 2018 : €12.5m

▪For creative documentary - €300,000 or 20% of the total eligible costs whichever is the lower.
▪For drama and animation - €500.000 or 12.5% of the total eligible costs, whichever is the lower.
▪Maximum €1m or 10% of the eligible costs( whichever is lower) can be requested for first and second seasons of TV drama series (co-produced by companies from different MEDIA sub-programme countries) only with an eligible production budget of at least €10m (consisting of at least 6 episodes each of a minimum length of 45 minutes)

•European independent audiovisual production companies
•Focus is on independent production companies and their positioning in the market
•A broadcaster cannot be majority co-producer and its share cannot exceed 70% of the total financing
•The work must be by majority produced by companies established in one or more countries participating in the MEDIA Sub-programme.
