Education International - Teachers’ Global Union Federation - www.ei-ie.org
WELCOME
Dear participant,
The first European edition of the International Summit on the Teaching
Profession will take place in the Netherlands on 13-14 March 2013.
After two successful editions in the United States this time the
Netherlands is hosting the summit. For two whole days, the ‘G20’
of education, represented by ministers of education, more than 150
teachers, policy makers and trade union leaders will discuss what it takes
to provide world-class education. At the conference, developments in
daily practice (provided in part by teachers themselves) will be combined
with the latest insights garnered from scientific research. The aim is to
share experiences and to learn from one another.
This summit will focus on the quality of teachers. In several sessions,
using examples from practice, some 500 participants will enter into
discussions with one another. The programme will offer more room
for teachers than in the previous two years. Six ‘teacher intermezzos’
have been scheduled that focus on teachers. What are lessons really
about? The programme compiled by the teachers consists of sketches,
international discussions and a film on their daily practice.
The Summit will thrive by open and direct interaction between all
participants; those with heart for education, who are willing to share their
extensive experiences, to motivate one another and to inspire.
We look forward to the 2013 International Summit on the Teaching
Profession!
