102-P01 TIED PROJECTS: Project HEN-2-281(043)045 – PCN 21745 is tied to this project. The contract bond
and mobilization items are paid under project NH-2-013(060)243 – PCN 21701 for both tied projects. 105-P01 UTILITIES: The vertical and horizontal utility locations shown in the plans are approximate. For
bidding or construction purposes, do not interpret plans as being exact.
105-P02 UTILITIES: No utility relocations or adjustments are planned. Protect all utilities on the project, allow them to remain in place.
105-P03 UTILITY POLE: Do not disturb the existing ground around the utility poles at Sta 237+95, Sta 282+69,
Sta 307+98, and Sta 312+05. Do not grade within 6’ of the poles. Start grading 6 feet from the pole and slope the existing ground at a 2:1 ratio to tie to the proposed backslope.
107-111 RAILROAD PROTECTIVE LIABILITY INSURANCE: This project crosses the Dakota, Missouri Valley

108-100 WEEKLY PLANNING & REPORTING MEETING: A weekly planning and reporting meeting is
required. 202-P01 REMOVAL OF PAVEMENT: At the subcut and grade raise locations, include the required bituminous
pavement and aggregate base removal in the contract unit price for “Removal of Pavement.” 203-010 SHRINKAGE: 25 percent additional volume is included for typical shrinkage in earth embankment.
100 percent additional volume is included for earth embankment in water at grade raise areas below an elevation of 1993.0.
203-385 AVERAGE HAUL: The average haul shown on the plans does not include the dead haul from the
borrow areas to the point of entry into the mass. 203-P01 WETLAND EXCAVATION: Pay for the excavation for wetland mitigation under the bid item “Common
Excavation – Type B.” 203-P02 COMPACTION AND DENSITY CONTROL: Compact material as specified in Section 203.04 E.3,
compaction control, type B in the areas of sliver grading. 401-P01 FOG SEAL: Fog seal after final rolling with a minimum mat temperature of 125 degrees F. 411-P01 TEMPORARY ASPHALT WEDGES: Place and maintain temporary asphalt wedges at the beginning
and ending of milled sections. Place wedges at these milled areas prior to traffic being allowed on the milled roadway section. Include all costs associated with labor, materials, and equipment for the installation, maintenance and removal of the asphalt wedges in the contract unit price for “Milling Pavement Surface”.
430-P01 CENTERLINE LONGINTUDINAL JOINT: Construct joints in a manner to provide a continuous bond
between the old and new surfaces. When constructing longitudinal joints adjacent to existing HMA Pavements; overlap the existing pavement 1 inch to 1.5 inches. The initial longitudinal roller pass will be on the un-compacted hot mat 6 inches to 1 foot from the joint. The successive roller pass will compact the overlapped material and the 6-inch to 1-foot material simultaneously.
704-100 TRAFFIC CONTROL SUPERVISOR: Provide a Traffic Control Supervisor. 704-255 TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR SHOULDER DROP-OFF: If the shoulder and adjacent driving lane are not
even at the end of the day, the following criteria will apply:
Place the following sign assembly at the locations listed below. Sign Assembly: Sign No. W8-9a-48 "Shoulder Drop Off" and supplemental plate Sign No. W20-52-54 to identify the distance.
Locations:
In advance of the drop off; Spaced at each mile from the advance sign; and At major intersections (CMC routes, state and US highways, and
Interstate Ramps). If the difference in elevation between the shoulder and the driving lane is
2" or greater, construct a compacted slough on the driving lane that is 4:1 or flatter.
If the difference in elevation between the shoulder and driving lane is less
than 2", no slough is required.

704-500 PORTABLE RUMBLE STRIPS (PRS): Use PRS made of rubber or engineered polymers. Install PRS that meet the following criteria:
Have no adhesives or fasteners required for placement; Have a manufacture's speed rating that meets or exceeds the posted speed limit; and Each strip in the array must weigh a minimum of 100 pounds.
Use individual PRS constructed in one of the following manners:
A single piece; Inter locking segments; or Two pieces hinged at the midpoint.
An installed array of PRS consists of a minimum of 3 individual strips. Move rumble strips with the flagging operation. Do not place rumble strips on horizontal curves. The Engineer will count and measure each array as one unit. Include the cost of providing, installing,
maintaining, and relocating PRS in the unit price bid for "Portable Rumble Strips.” 704-P01 TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES: The traffic control devices have been developed using layouts shown
in the plans and the following layouts shown on the Standard Drawings.
1. D-704-19, layout F 2. D-704-21, layout J 3. D-704-26, layout FF 4. D-704-27 5. D-704-30, for shoulder aggregate placement
Measure and pay for sign assemblies according to Section 704 “Temporary Traffic Control.”
704-P02 TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR HMA OVERLAYS: Provide traffic control consisting of a temporary road
closure, flagging, and a pilot car. Traffic control device quantities are based on a 6-mile limitation and the list below. Provide additional
devices at no additional cost to the Department.
1. Standard D-704-12; 2. Standard D-704-15, layout A; 3. Standard D-704-20, layout G – signing will be required at junctions: ND 56 4. Standard D-704-22, layouts K and L; and 5. Standard D-704-26, layouts CC, EE, and GG.
Place flaggers and traffic control devices as shown on Standard D-704-15, layout A at the following
intersections when the lane closure spans across them:
1. ND 56 706-P01 FIELD OFFICE: Provide a field office, which meets the following requirements:
1. Minimum total area of 440 square feet 2. Indoor bathroom facilities and supplies with weekly cleaning services. 3. Hookups for heat, electricity, internet, sewer, and potable water. 4. Minimum cabinet space of 32 cubic feet. 5. Minimum counter space of 40 square feet. 6. A heating and cooling system that is capable of maintaining the temperature
between 65°F and 78°F year around.
