• Device typeThe device and the device design is defined in the "Device type" section(Product root).
• Basic specificationsThe features that are absolutely essential for the device (mandatoryfeatures) are specified in the basic specifications. The number ofpositions depends on the number of features available. The selectedoption of a feature can consist of several positions.
• Optional specificationsThe optional specifications describe additional features for the device(optional features). The number of positions depends on the numberof features available. The features have a 2-digit structure to aididentification (e.g. JA). Safetyinstructions:General
• Staff must meet the following conditions for mounting, electricalinstallation, commissioning and maintenance of the device:– Be suitably qualified for their role and the tasks they perform.– Be trained in explosion protection.– Be familiar with national regulations (e.g. CEC or NEC).
• Install the device according to the manufacturer's instructions andnational regulations.
• Do not operate the device outside the specified electrical, thermal andmechanical parameters.
• Only use the device in media to which the wetted materials havesufficient durability.
• Refer to the temperature tables for the relationship between thepermitted ambient temperature for the sensor and/or transmitter,depending on the range of application, and the temperature classes.
• Modifications to the device can affect the explosion protection andmust be carried out by staff authorized to perform such work byEndress+Hauser.
• When using in hybrid mixtures (gas and dust occurringsimultaneously), additional measures should be taken. Please seeapproval body.
• Open the device only if one of the following conditions is met:– An explosive atmosphere is not present.– A waiting time of 10 minutes is observed after switching off the
power supply.• Observe all the technical data of the device (see nameplate).
LWARNINGSubstitution of components is not permitted.‣ Substitution of components may impair intrinsic safety.

Safetyinstructions:Installation
In the event of potentially explosive vapor/air mixtures, only operatethe device under atmospheric conditions.• Temperature: –20 to +60 °C• Pressure: 80 to 110 kPa (0.8 to 1.1 bar)• Air with normal oxygen content, usually 21 % (V/V)If no potentially explosive mixtures are present, or if additionalprotective measures have been taken, the device may also be operatedunder non-atmospheric conditions in accordance with themanufacturer's specifications.• Continuous service temperature of the connecting cable:
–40 to +80 °C (–50 to +80 °C for optional specification, ID Jx (Test,Certificate) = JP); but at least according to the service temperaturerange of the application taking into account additional influences ofthe process conditions (Ta,min and Ta,max + 20 K).
• Only use certified cable entries suitable for the application. Observeselection criteria as per CEC or NEC.
• The following applies when connecting the transmitter with aconnection compartment in Ex d:Only use separately certified cable and wire entries (Ex d IIC) whichare suitable for operating temperatures up to 85 °C and for IP 67protection. If using conduit entries, the associated sealingmechanisms must be mounted directly on the housing.
• The following applies when connecting the transmitter with aconnection compartment in Ex e:Only use separately certified cable and wire entries and sealing plugs(Ex e II) which are suitable for operating temperatures up to 85 °Cand for IP 67 protection. The cables must be routed such that they aresecurely seated, and sufficient strain relief must be ensured.
• When the measuring device is connected, attention must be paid toexplosion protection at the transmitter.
• In potentially explosive atmospheres:– Do not disconnect the electrical connection of the power supply
circuit when energized.– Do not open the connection compartment cover when energized.
• Install the transmitter circuit wiring according to Canadian ElectricalCode (CEC) respective National Electrical Code (NEC) using threadedconduit or other wiring methods in accordance with articles 500 to510.
• When connecting through a conduit entry approved for this purpose,mount the associated sealing unit directly at the housing.
• Seal unused entry glands with approved sealing plugs that correspondto the type of protection. The plastic transport sealing plug supplieddoes not meet this requirement and must therefore be replacedduring installation.
• Only use certified sealing plugs. The metal sealing plugs suppliedmeet this requirement.

Intrinsic safety• Observe the guidelines for interconnecting intrinsically safe circuits
(e.g. , Proof of Intrinsic Safety).• When the intrinsically safe Ex ia circuits of the device are connected
to certified intrinsically safe Ex ib circuits with explosion group IIC orIIB:The type of protection changes to Ex ib IIC or Ex ib IIB.
• The device can be connected to the remote display and operatingmodule DKX001 with Ex ia explosion protection; refer to the SpecialDocumentation and Ex documentation.
If the remote display and operating module DKX001 is used, theinternal display unit must be removed from transmitter!
Potential equalization• Integrate the device into the local potential equalization .• If the ground connection has been established via the pipe as
specified, it is also possible to integrate the sensor into the potentialequalization system via the pipe.
Safetyinstructions: Zone21, Class II, ClassIII
• To ensure dust-tightness, securely seal the transmitter housing, cableentries and sealing plugs.
• Only open the transmitter housing briefly, ensuring that no dust ormoisture enters the housing.
• Only use certified cable entries. The metal cable entries supplied meetthis requirement.
• When connecting the transmitter to the remote display andoperating module DKX001: Connection values → 21
