I've loved sport all my life. I started working in sport in a
rehabilitation context in 2000, as a student athletic trainer for
the varsity Football and Women's Basketball teams at
McMaster University while completing my undergraduate
degree in Kinesiology. Since completing my physiotherapy
degree in 2004, I have worked across the sport spectrum,
including (but not limited to) community level rugby and
Australian Rules Football, CIS women's soccer and basketball,
with the Senior, U18/19, and U16/17 Women's Basketball
teams at Canada Basketball, Skate Canada, and multi-sport
games (i.e., 2015 and 2017 Canada Games, the 2015 Pan Am
Games, and 2017 North American Indigenous Games). In
addition to trying to keep my skills sharp and challenging them
by getting involved with athletes from different sports and at
different points in their athletic careers, I have tried to grow
my own skills and the value I can provide the athletes that I
work with. I was certified by the Canadian Acupuncture
Foundation Institute of Canada (now Acupuncture Canada) and
completed my Master of Clinical Science in Manipulative
Science and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of
Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2009. Most recently, I
completed my PhD in Kinesiology (Sports Medicine) at the
University of Calgary Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre,
where my focus was physical activity and concussion in youth
ice hockey. In addition to concussion prevention and
rehabilitation, I spend a lot of time working with knee and
ankle injuries, and, increasingly, shoulder injuries. I am
currently delving more into how integration with strength and ON Nancy Botting Diploma [email protected]
