Pythagoras• Pythagoras- a lonian Greek philosopher,
mathematician, and founder of the religious movement called Pythagoreanism.
• Born on the island of Samos.• Born C.580bc., Died C.569bc.(he was about 75
years old)• People describe him as the first pure
mathematician.• He is also an important figure in the developments
of mathematics even though we know very little about his mathematical achievements.
Pythagoren Theorem• It’s the relation in Geometry among the three
sides of a right triangle.• It can be written as a equation relating the
length of the sides a squared , b squared , and c squared.
• It is often called Pythagorean Equation.• C SQUARED is verified as the Hypotenuse and a squared
and b squared are verified as the other two legs• It is also a simple mathematical equation with
various uses today in geometry , trigonometry, architculture , etc.
Pythagoreanism• Was the system of Metaphysical
beliefs held by Pythagoras and his followers known as the Pythagorean cult.
• They were influenced by mathematicians.
• The image is an example of Pythagorean theorem
