$162 Million Allocated for I-57 Interchange
• Illinois 2020 budget has allocated $162 million
for building an I-57 interchange near proposed
South Suburban Airport site.
• Includes local road upgrades and utility
connections
• IL Department of Transportation has spent
approximately $100 million to purchase 4,500
acres for airport development. State now owns
89% of land needed for project.
• Alliance was one of 50 communities and
agencies to register formal support of state
funding for the infrastructure work.
• Infrastructure upgrades and airport are
expected to enhance Chicago’s global e-
commerce position.
$2.3 Million Allocated for Flood Prevention
• New Indiana state budget increases flood
prevention dollars for Kankakee and Yellow
rivers.
• Kankakee River Basin Commission (KRBC)
has created a system of property assessments
to raise money for future projects.
• Pilot planned to reduce the amount of sand
flowing into the Yellow and Kankakee rivers
• Kankakee County is involved in efforts.
• Illinois businesses added jobs in 10 of 14 metro areas in April.
• Unemployment rates increased over-the-year in April in 11 of
Illinois’s metropolitan areas, decreased in 1, and was unchanged
in 2.
• The industry sectors recording job growth in the majority of metro
areas included Manufacturing (11 of 14), Leisure and Hospitality
(11 of 14), Mining and Construction (10 of 14), and Government
(9 of 14).

• New apartment complex also under consideration in the area
• Village of Bourbonnais in May adopted a new ordinance permitting multifamily
development including 4.5 acres min; on-site amenities; and full-time, on-site
management offices under single ownership.

• 1 million SF distribution/fulfillment facility with Q3 2020 occupancy
• 250-acre Bourbonnais Pkwy parcel submitted
