Thelong-termgoalistocontinuegrowingOCIPprofessionaldevelopmentservicesinalignmentwithVision20/20,NMSU’sstrategicplan.PlansareunderwaytoexpandtheprofessionaldevelopmentofferingsthatalignwiththeQualityMattersStandardsincludingdevelopingonlineresources,providing“IIQSamplers”asmodelsandtemplates,andprovidingaself-pacedprofessionaldevelopmentopportunityforonlineteaching.Additionally,OCIPpartneredwiththeSchoolofSocialWorkworkingwithfacultytotransitiontheirface-to-faceMaster’sofSocialWorkcoursestoafullyonlineprogrambyFall2017.Significantprogresswasmadewith9courses“meeting”standards,2coursesearningformalQMRecognitionand7coursesmeetinganinformalreview.

One-hundredpercentCourseDeliveryFeefundingfortheOnlineCourseImprovementProgramstartsinFY17.AttheMay2016STAC/FACTjointmeetingSTACASNMSUfundingwasreturnedbyIIQ/OCIP.

ArequestforcontinuedfundingsupportforfacultyprofessionaldevelopmentandqualityonlinecourseswillbemadetotheProvostonanannualbasis.EnsuringqualityforallcoursesregardlessofmethodofdeliveryistheprimarymissionofOCIPprofessionaldevelopment,theInstructionalInnovationandQualityunitandtheTeachingAcademy.8.AdditionalActivitiesInadditionto1Yr+,N2O,MSW,andSummerInstitutes,theOCIPstaffprovidessupporttoanyfacultymemberfromanycollegerequestingsupportwithonlineorblendedcoursedesign.Belowaretheface-to-facehoursspentworkingwiththeseinstructors(doesnotincludeanysupportofferedviaphoneoremailcommunication).

AppendixBFacultyComments-ReductioninMaterialsandTextbookCostsIuseonlyfreeonlineresourcesformytextmaterials.Ihaveeithercreatedthesemyself,orusesourcessuchasMITorOCW.Inrevisingmyonlineandblendedcourses,IfindthatIcanmakemuchmoreuseofonlineresourcesandopeneducationalresources.Inmyfieldthereareahostoffantasticeducationalresources--fromvirtualgalleriesthatrecreatehistoricalmomentsandplacestoarchivesthatofferfacsimilesofraretexts.Theseareonlyalinkaway.Iamabletodependlessontextbooksandmoreonthevirtualpossibilitiesoftheweb.Icanevenrelyonstudentstohelpfindtheseresourceswithme,whichexercisestheircriticalfacultiesinassessingthescholarlyvalidityofasite.Thishasalsoextendedtomyclassroomcourses.Innextterm'scoursesIamrequiringarentedtextbookforone,andnotextbookforanother,forwhichIwillbeabletosupplyorhyperlinkallreadingsonline.Iamusinge-textbooksformycourses,whicharemorepractical,lessexpensive,andcanbeusedonmobiledevices.Mystudentsusedseveralwebsites,articlesIhavepostedtoCanvas,andaYouTubevideo.Providedonlineresources:articlesfromlibrary,youtubevideos,requestsbookstobeusedagainfromprevioussemester.Onlineresources:Pinterest,Youtube,studyguides,rentedtextbooks,onlinetextbooks.Ihaveincorporatedmorehyperlinkstoonlinevideos,onlineresearcharticles,quizzes.Iwasabletocutdownoncost,paper-use,andexpensivetextbooks.Iamnotpresentlyusingtextbooksinmycourse.Iuseonlineresourcesonly.

AppendixCSamplesofStudentCommentsIlikethespeedweweregoingfortheclass.alsoIlikedhowitwasorganized.Ithoughtthediscussionquestionsweregood.Overallalloftheassignmentsweregoodforthistypeofclass.Thiscoursehasalotoftoolsandopportunitiestolearn.Therearemanytoolsandavarietyoflearningapplications.Maybemoregroupdiscussionsonconcepts.Iappreciatethatthelecturesaresplitintoshortervideos.Thatmakessearchingforaspecifictopiceasierthansortingthroughafull1hourvideo.Theabilitytodownloadandwatchthecourselecturesasynchronously.Irealizethereareprobablyintellectualpropertyconcernsforothercoursesbutbeingabletodownloadthecoursecontentandvideosforreview(onmultipleplatform/OSs)isgreatIlikethelectures,theyareveryhelpful.IlikeDr.Pazenthusiasmandhowmuchefforthetookinpreparingthisonlinecourse.IlikehavingvideosthatIcanrewatchtocatchthingsImissed.IalsolikehavingsimplequizzestoensurethatIpickedupkeypartsofthevideos.Theknowledgeoftheinstructorandhisabilitytosharethatknowledgebyexplainingconceptsandmaterialingeneral.Theresponsefromtheinstructorandthecoursematerialsetup.Thecourseseemedveryorganizedandhelpedmeunderstandwhatwasdueaheadoftime.SinceIworkedwhiletakingthiscourse,thiswasverybeneficialandhelpedmecompleteassignmentsontime.ThematerialisveryinterestingandIamlearningmorethanIexpected.Iliketheonlineexperienceandhavingthevideosavailableatalltimes,whilealsobeingabletodownloadthemasneeded.IlikedhowallthestudentsgavefreshperspectivesofShakespearethatIneverthoughtofbeforeandalsohowgreateveryonewaswhenitcametocommentingonother'sposts.Ialsolovedthefactthattheprofessorwassoinvolvedwiththediscussionsandwouldpromptastudenttothinkdeeperonthetopic.Iliketheclearsetupofwhatwillbehappeningeachweek,aswellastheResourcepagethatteachesuswhatwewouldotherwiselearninaface-to-faceclass.
