Dear Parent,Processes like Continuous Comprehensive Education (CCE) and Learning Evaluation Process (LEP) help us to identify the core strengths and weaknesses to
prioritize our goals and work on them. Our entire Pollocks team will work towards achieving these goals and we appreciate the support of all our Parents on this.
Our areas of work and focus in the coming years will be increasing academic competence and performance, continuing to work on teacher quality and appraisal,
putting better efforts on increasing students motivation, students behavior and igniting the joy of learning in them.
Today, I have an important message to be delivered, to my Teachers and Parents……..
It is hightime. We have to shift our equations. The world of classroom and of learning has undergone both visible and invisible challenges. The process of
learning, what we learn and how we learn is changing everyday. We live in new realities and emerging trends - knowledge explosion, increase in parental
involvement, teachers attention, government policies and interference, change in society and family structures, digital explosion …… With these visible challenges
have come the more subtle ones, the creep up on us and take hold of our lives before we are completely aware of them. The way we talk, think and interact and
in the way we imagine our World has changed a lot. We need to accept certain shifts as - Change is always inevitable.
Even in terms of discipline, we need a paradigm shift from an authoritative environment to a democratic and collaborative atmosphere.
We need to constantly remember that only if we make shift in our thinking, our expectations will match the outcome to face the future challenges. - Sandeep Chitra, Principal.
Dear Parent,
“The whole world has been created by the process of our thinking. So we can’t bring
about days without changing our thinking or our methods and Education is the only
powerful weapon by which we can change the world today.”
Government changes the policies constantly. Adopting changes depends on our
flexibility and our quest for bigger possibilities in life. If children are more receptive to
changes than we all are. One of the most positive and welcome approach to changes
is relating to syllabus of upper primary, LEP Model and their evaluation system. By
concentrating on Projects and attendance there is a considerable focus on the overall
personality development of the child whether marks oriented Report cards as you are
aware of the new grade system for SSC is another step towards this.
Pollocks has been embrassing its motto and adopting these changes from their Kindergarten level for example
Pupils Activity, Project work, Picture comprehension, Worksheet as a part of our curriculum which Government
has introduced now. So, it has become a very smooth transition for all the Pollocks Students reinforcing the fact
that, we aim at Education for life, understanding and adopting these changes will be reflected in your child’s
performance and their receptivity. Competance and clarity are essential for every child’s healthy future.

We proudly say that we have more than
10 years of association with POLLOCKS
SCHOOL. In addition to our child B.V.S.
GANESH who is completing his 8th
standard this academic year, our
children Kum. Mohana Sree (B.Tech) and Kum. Bhavan Sree (BDS) had successfully
completed their education at POLLOCKS. The teachers taught my children good
behavior, discipline and other skills which helped my children to built their own career
path. Unlike corporate Schools the fees of the school is very reasonable that a middle
income family can afford to admit their children in POLLOCKS. Under the guidance of
Mrs. Rajini Chitra, Vice-Principal and the efficient team of teachers always closely
monitor each and every student and work for their development. The School
management always values and perceives the Parents feelings in a right way and
solves their issues.

The journey of Kum. M.D.S. Vathsalya in
Pollocks School.
A brilliant girl whose passion is to prove herself every

1. Stood 1st in 7th Class.
2. Won Prathibha award 4 times consecutively.
3. Stood 2nd in SSC Examination.
4. Secured 82nd rank in EAMCET and added a

CCE pattern of studies : CCE is a continuous & comprehensive evaluation. It tests the skills of a child in
such a way as to give the correct picture of the talents of the child. A good teacher can comprehend a child
in various fields helping him or her to improve upon certain spheres and also show them what they are best
at.
Grading system: Grading and reporting are relatively recent phenomena in education.
The grading and reporting on student learning has become a challenge for educators. To develop grading
and reporting practices that provide quality information about student learning requires clear thinking,
careful planning, excellent communication skills, and an over-riding concern for the well-being of students.
Combining these skills with current knowledge on effective practices will surely result in more efficient and
more effective grading and reporting practices.
Various grading and reporting methods are used to: Communicate the achievement status of students to their parents.
Provide information to students for self-evaluation.
Select, identify, or group students for certain educational paths or
programs.
Provide incentives for students to learn.
Document students performance to evaluate the effectiveness of
instructional programs.

“Exercising our rights and domestic policies that are
pursued by our leaders is Patriotism.”
No other Indian song is said to capture the poignancy of a do-or-
die moment, be it in the sporting field or at the frontiers, the way
Jana Gana Mana can.
Jana Gana Mana, composed by Nobel laureate Rabindranath
Tagore and sung for the first time at the Calcutta session of the
Indian National Congress on December 27, 1911, had fired a
nation's patriotism and united it in crisis and triumph for 100
years. On this occasion our students participated in group
singing with different prestigious schools 100 times. It's a moment
of pride remembering the 100-year-old history of the Indian
national anthem that played a key role in unifying a country torn
apart by a bloody partition, nationalist movement and popular
uprisings. It had moved our country to tears during sporting vic-
tories, unfurling of the national flag and cultural and public occa-
sions.
1. Fact-Based quizzes on Mathematics and Sciences.2. Vocabulary Development Programmes like public speaking, debates are
being conducted to develop students language while speaking monitoredby English monitors under the expert guidance of teachers.
3. Special coupons are given to the children as a token of encouragementwho have shown the mark of difference with other students. The coupon willgive an opening to excel himself in different aspects.
4. During the Assembly much learning takes place. Highly creative themepresentations are done by an assigned class. Frequently TEACHERS talk tostudents ont specific topics that add highly interactive sessions to theassembly.

This Ganesh Chaturthi, we had revived the age-old tradition ofusing Ganesh idols made of natural clay, to save our environ-ment at the same time. Our young sculptors had prepared bio-degradable Ganesh idols made from natural clay. The littlehands molded the clay and shown their artistic skill in creatingthe beautiful ganesha idols.
They distributed the idols to the public at free of cost. The mainobjective of the campaign was to sensitize the general public onenvironmental issues and how Ganesha idols made of plaster ofparis and chemical colours have been polluting the environ-ment.The event was carried out in association with the NGO’slike Vizag Round Table 77 & Rotary Club Vizag Couples.

MOTHER INDIAExpressing Gratitude to
Man is fundamentally, a thinking being busy in
inventions, innovations and discoveries. Yet, he
aspires for recreation through hobbies. Playing or
viewing a cricket match has become universally
as the hobby. Youngsters almost worship the
famous cricketers. If one gets a chance to
welcome them its highly thrilling ! That is what had
actually happened to me and my students when India and New
Zealand teams came to Visakhapatnam to play a T-20 match.
Enthused by this prospect, we reached the airport much in advance
and enjoyed the crowds as they arrived. As the plane touched the
ground the welcome of shouts reached the sky. It was a grand
celebration with smile on faces, cheering slogans in full throated
voice and hands in welcome postures. We reached the spot where
the cricket heroes were standing. To our greatest delight, it was an
unforgettable experience in life to see the World cup Cricketers and
my school kids on the both sides equally happy and eagerly wait-
ing for the ensuring match on the following day. GLORY TO

Science & Communication was not easy
but it was a learning experience. The main
idea behind the Science Express was to
promote the importance of science
amongst youth.
Science Express, a train that was started
on November 30, 2008, featured over 300
large format science-related visuals, 150
video clips explaining different scientific
phenomena and multimedia exhibits. The
16-coach train has thus so far travelled a
distance of 17,000 km.
We wanted the students to be a part of a
scientific environment, and our students
participated with great enthusiasm explor-
ing the facts and enjoyed in clarifying their
queries on various aspects in a new
method by just pressing a button.
The exhibition also showcased various
aspects of climate change, water, energy
conservation, environment and helped the
children in developing eco-friendliness.
'It was a lifetime experience on the train
and we loved educating the curious
students. Science communication was not
easy but it was a learning experience,'
The City of Destiny, which was tagged as 'Goa of the East Coast', had become a venue for hosting the International T20 Cricket match once again.
Our children felt blessed and their joy knew no boundaries while inviting both the Cricket teams. The Indian and New Zealand Cricket teams arrived on Wednesday 5th Sept for their first T-20 Match on Saturday
7th Sept. which saw the comeback of Yuvraj Singh after battling a mighty cancer.

'Rakhi' is a special occasion to celebrate the
emotional bonding by tying a holy thread
around the wrist. This thread, which pulsates
with sisterly love and sublime sentiments, is
rightly called the 'Rakhi'. It means 'a bond of
protection', and Raksha Bandhan signifies
that the bond must protect the weak from all
that's evil. Our students extended their hands
to tie the strings of bonds not only to their
brothers but also to the people who are left behind. Rituals like Rakhi, there
is no doubt, help ease out various societal strains, induce fellow-feeling,
open up channels of expression, give us an opportunity to rework on our
role as human beings and, most importantly,
bring joy in our lives.

Celebrations are an important part of people's
lives in cultures all around the world. Teaching
about celebrations can help students learn
about different cultures as well as understand
more about the way different families celebrate
events. As a part of this we have taken an
initiative to inculcate the habit of respecting the
parents as their first teacher by felicitating the
parents and grandparents of our students who
served the society as a teacher or headmaster.
Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th Sept. with
great energy and enthusiasm. Ever since the
importance of teachers has been recognized by
the management, by adopting the
"Recommendation concerning the status of
teachers", Teacher's Day is being celebrated
annually. This includes celebrations to honor the
teachers for their special contribution in a
particular field.

Independence day celebration: As the colours of the day unfolded, the students of our School celebrated our Country’s 66th Independence day with
a unique programme at Police Grounds & School premises which were witnessed by the various dignitaries of our State Govt, Managements, Staff
and Students.
The message given by our honourable Principal, the enthused patriotic song sung by the students, and the energetic dance performed by the stu-
dents reminded the gathering, the supreme sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and left everyone spell bound.
The celebration concluded with a School anthem as a mark of respect to the abode of learning.
A recent study found that
music trains the brain for
higher forms of thinking.
Second graders who were
given music lessons scored
27% higher on proportional mathematic and fractions tests than chil-
dren who received no special instruction. It is an art form, as we all
are emotional beings and every child requires an artistic outlet.
Music may be a child's vehicle of expression. To make sure the
importance of music we introduced music in our regular curriculum
and our children have banged the bell of victory in many competi-
tions conducted by Symphony Music Academy.

'Mini Food Show lets students, administrators try foods before adding
them to the menu'
The food exhibition helped us to discover how to create
new healthy recipes with little difference in mixing of ingredients. We
gained a deeper understanding of the relationships between
ingredients, their formulations, and their applications successfully,
developing healthy food products. Our teachers conducted a food
exhibition, explained the nutritional values, shared the ideas with
children- taught less and learnt more through this programme which
has given an opening new tastes of a healthy life.

We offer a multitude of extracurricular activities, including art, music, sports etc. Helping the child to find and pursue his/her passions
which would help in becoming an all-rounded and satisfied adult, We consider the effects of extracurricular activities on the student
to find a balance between activities and leisure time.
Research shows that participating in extra-curricular activities actually increases the livelihood of achieving higher grades, probably
because students who participate in extracurricular activities are more likely to be responsible and use their time wisely. While the type
of extra-curricular activity can matter, altogether extra curricular activities have a positive effect on students academic performance.

SCIENCE IN ASSEMBLYSCIENCE IN ASSEMBLY
Science experiments create innovative thinking and blend education and
fun. These impart and inculcate the technological thinking & knowledge. We
started a process of demonstrating the experiments relating with the science
of day to day life during the School assembly so that the child could see
understand and develop the inquisitive nature towards the things that are
happening around them. A student is able to explore different branches of
science including chemistry, biology, physics by conducting various
experiments.
Science experiments help students to learn the practical aspects of science
in day to day life. Students generally enjoy doing things practically because
theoretical learning sometimes becomes very common. These help the
students to feel whatever they are performing and help them to grasp the
concerned topic quickly. Really, it is great fun for children who use science
experiments in their learning process. They are designed in a playful and
attractive manner so that the kids can enjoy doing them.
Independence day Celebrations
Competitions
The powerful role of music in human experience is indisputable. Throughout
history, daily musical experiences have included children's play songs.
People love music and use it on a regular basis to relax, to entertain, to
exercise, to socialize, and to share their tastes and experiences. Music is
thus a powerful way to bring people together.. Music has a special
capacity to reinforce the social group; to create a sense of shared experi-
ence in which relationships are strengthened. At the same time, music can
be deeply personal, stimulating strong individual emotions and memories a
familiar piece of music can trigger a memory and immediately take us back
to a particular moment..
A key aspect of daily music-making is its extraordinary potential for self-expression and
creativity. With just a voice or a pursed pair of lips, an individual can experiment with ideas, try
out new sounds and begin to compose. The incredible diversity of music from around the globe
and across different periods of history is a tribute to such human creativity and to the way in
which we respond to social conditions and technical constraints. The drive to push
conventional boundaries, and create experiences that are fresh and exciting, has led to
everything from pianos, electric guitars and synthesizers to vast musical works requiring
enormous orchestras and multiple choirs. While humans continue to feel the creative urge to
express themselves musically, music research will afford valuable insights into the nature of the
human condition and its relationship with society.
