Quick guide on Cyrillic
Work with shape groups The square-shaped group needs compensation of widths to balance the inner whitespace
HПЦ ЦШЩ
/П/ is generally narrower than /Н//Ц/ is ever more narrower
/Щ/ and /Ш/ are much more compressed than /Ц/
Н+О=Ю FГ ВБ
/Ю/ can be made from /H/ + /O/generally left half of /O/ is compressed
/Г/ is easily made from /F/ with width compenstation/Б/ is made from /В/ and /Г/
ЬГ ТЪ CЭ ВЗ
I tend to increase the bowl of /Ь/ opposed to /Б/and shorten the arm of /Ъ/ compared to /Т/
I made /Э/ from /С/ flipped 180° and extended to compensate for its backwards dynamic
/В/ and /З/ are related forms
ЛДЦ ФО
/Л/ and /Д/ share the same construction/Д/ and /Ц/ have same descending terminals
In order to match the color in text the bar of /Ф/is extended over the baseline.
КЖ ИЙН
/К/ and /Ж/ share similar construction/Ж/ can sometimes be slighly compressed
I made /И/ a touch wider than /Н/N.B. There a two types of breve and /И/ constructions
ЯЬ У Y VK
Flipped /Ь/ is a good for reference the bowl of /Я/, but /Я/ is not reversed /R/
In my case leg of /K/ is a good reference for tail of /У/ And /V/ can be handy to start from.
Scale down UP to make LCFor this purpose it can be handy to use RMX Scaler and then manually tweek the widths, and adjust serifs.Otherwise scale down using transform tool and compensate the stem and glyph widths manually.
