The European Network of Local and Regional Authorities for the Implementation of the European Landscape Convention is an international association of public authorities committed to the implementation of the principle of the ELC within their territories.
RECEP-ENELC was established on 30 May 2006 in Strasbourg, at the Council of Europe. It was created following Resolution 178 (2004) by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
It currently has 36 members from the regions, provinces, municipalities and other territorial authorities of 7 European countries.
Understanding and acceptance of the landscape concept as defined by the ELC at the local and regional level following the principles of subsidiarity and self-government;Giving technical assistance to members in their activities aimed at ELC implementation: landscape identification and assessment, landscape quality objectives and public decisions concerning landscape protection, management and planning.Promoting the development of joint projects between members; searching the participation in programmes financed by the EU and other international institutions related to landscape issues;Supporting projects aimed at implementing ELC principles in collaboration with the networks of universities and civil society (Uniscape and Civilscape)Organising meetings, conferences and other events on the ELC and the opportunities related to its implementationProgramming training courses for representatives of local and regional administrations on technical issues concerning landscape protection, management and planning;
