James Caan CBE
CHAIRMAN
Management team
Having founded Recruitment Entrepreneur in 2014, former Dragons’ Den star and serial entrepreneur, James Caan CBE plays a pivotal role in shaping each business within the portfolio.
James has been in recruitment for over 30 years and invests in recruitment companies of all sizes across various geographies and sectors. Alexander Mann, his first recruitment business, sold in 2013 for £260 million. His second recruitment venture, Humana International, grew to 140 offices across 30 countries. His third sale was a collection of six recruitment companies to Graphite Capital in 2014 for £100m.
As chairman, James takes an active role in the investment process, working closely with the Recruitment Entrepreneur team to support portfolio partners. His hands-on approach and mentoring enable entrepreneurs to learn from his considerable experience in founding and scaling recruitment businesses.
With 3 million followers, James was named LinkedIn’s second most influential voice of 2017. His global network, both online and offline, has assisted portfolio CEOs in attracting the best talent, clients and candidates to their businesses.

Gareth’s 25 year career as a recruiter encompassed
roles based in London, Sydney, Singapore and Hong
Kong. Much of his career has entailed launching
new businesses into new markets and locations. He
successfully established, scaled and exited his own
recruitment business. As Recruitment
Entrepreneur’s leader for Australia and Asia,
Gareth’s focus is on the identification, development
and support of recruitment businesses for RE’s APAC
portfolio.
Abid HamidGROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Abid trained as a lawyer working in corporate
finance before entering recruitment 25 years
ago. He’s worked in over 35 countries in various
CEO roles and was investor and director of a UK
FTSE250 company, as well as a non-executive
director for multiple recruitment companies. He
founded ARBP, which trained recruiters in 22
countries and has a wealth of experience in
building and managing teams. Industry
specialisations include oil & gas, security and
professional services.

portfolio into new global regions, providing new

Greg is focused on promoting origination outside of
London. He oversees origination deals working
closely with CEOs across planning, strategy and
delivery. Having lead and developed businesses for
over 22 years, Greg has a wealth of experience
