Vocabulario/Apuntes #12
CONJUGATING• In Spanish verbs, or action words, always end in 3
ways if they are in their infinitive form. Infinitive forms means that they end in either an “-ar” “-er” or “-ir” and mean “to…(something).” Examples:
hablar – ends in “-ar” and means “to talk”comer- ends in “-er” and means “to eat”vivir- ends in “-ir” and means “to live”
Conjugating continued…
• **If a verb in Spanish has an R on the end just always remember it’s “to (run, skip, jump, laugh, smile, hit, yell…whatever.)**
• In English we use subjects to identify who we are talking about:Examples:You talk; She eats; They jump; We go; I have…
• In Spanish the subjects are implied depending on how
you conjugate the verb.
Conjugating Continued…
• Conjugate means to take off the “-ar”, “-er”, or “-ir” and put a new ending onto the verb. You can conjugate verbs only…not nouns, adjectives, or adverbs!
• Each ending, “-ar”, “-er”, or “-ir” have different endings for each of the subjects.
