Reporting
RO-ENV SDIC ROMANIAN ENVIRONMENTAL SDIC
The aim of the Habitats Directive
• all habitat types and species of European importance will have a “favourable conservation status”
In 2007, under the 2nd Art. 17 reporting obligations, ETC/BD processed data from 25 countries:
• 8 820 reports (assessments of conservation status) for 230 habitat types and 1200
species
• 16 000 species and habitats distribution and range maps (which were initially deemed to
be of minor importance)
The range tool was developed by Teamnet International (using ESRI technology) for the European
Commission on the initiative of the European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity and can be used to fulfill
the Art. 17 MS reporting obligation for 2013
Biogeographical regions
RO-ENV SDIC ROMANIAN ENVIRONMENTAL SDIC
The conservation status is assessed by each member state at local biogeographical region level. EC asses the conservation status of the entire biogeographical region.
Output : 2 941 assessments, 2 800 mapsInput: 8 820 assessments, 16 000 maps
