Our Robotics program this Semester was a huge success! Students had the opportunity
to work with Sphero, Ozobots, Lego Mindstorm, MBot, BeeBot, 3D Printer and various stop
motion animation technologies. Coding was a major focus, requiring students to program
these technologies. Some of the coding that students were able to carry out included
using programs such as Scratch and Code.org as well as the various coding programs that
each device required. We also incorporated Science, Technology, Engineering and Math-
ematics (STEM) which encouraged student to problem solve using these skills. The pro-
gram culminated in a Robotics Night where students had the opportunity to showcase
what they had learnt and teach the wider school community about technology.

Our Exceptional Naplan Results
Woodside Primary School has
consistently had strong NAPLAN
results, though this year they are
our highest for some time.
Across all subject areas, only
one was below the state average
with many being well above.
Individually the children per-
formed very well. In Year Five 87% of results were in the top 50% and 53%
of results were in the top 20%. In Year three 66% of results were in the top
50%. Numeracy results were particularly pleasing with four students getting
93% correct or more.
We attribute our success to several factors.
One being the extension programs in place.
Children are placed in groups according to the stage they are at.
The groupings are constantly changing in response to regular testing.
Class sizes are also smaller allowing for individual attention.
