NEWS FROM THE ROCK...
Though April showers may come your way…
If they’re not frozen, that’d be okay
Well, I’m still looking forward to that first night of sleeping with the windows open. And I still haven’t put the winter gear away or tried to start the lawn
mower. Yet, I carry on, undaunted, toward celebrating Camping Sunday on April 15th!
On that morning we will talk about and lift up Camping Ministry, and our United Methodist Camps, in prayer. I invite everyone to come to church dressed
in camping attire. At our 10:45 service our Call to Prayer will be led by our “Camp Choir” and we will learn a new song!
“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31a
Rockbrook-Oakdale Neighborhood Watch Informational Meeting.
Pastor Jim has been working with a group of neighbors about forming a Neighborhood Watch Program, or possibly
even a Citizens Patrol Unit through the Omaha Police Department.
Who is it for?
People who walk around the neighborhood
People who walk their dogs
People who want to get involved
People who don't want to get involved, they just want to know what's going on in the area
People from any neighborhood in Omaha who want to start their own watch.
People who are just interested in being more neighborly
The meeting will be held here at Rockbrook Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday April 5th. All are welcome!
Help Wanted: Financial Secretary
The Church Financial Secretary is a volunteer position responsible for weekly duties such as recording member giving, as well as periodic duties including
issuing quarterly giving statements. Our current Financial Secretary is resigning effective April 30th, so we urgently need someone to volunteer. If you
are interested, please speak to Pastor Jim. Thank you!

The Rockbrook Trustees are concentrating on several smaller
projects in 2018:
Completion of the garden, just outside the main entrance, will include the installation of a
flagpole and lighting donated by the Scouts who meet at Rockbrook. Larry McChesney worked
diligently on both the design and installation of this garden, which will be a beautiful addition to
the campus landscaping.
Memorial money will be used to purchase a new sign for the church, which will be installed along
the frontage road. We are obtaining bids from sign companies and hope to have this completed
and installed by the beginning of the summer.
Bulbs in the sanctuary fixtures, which were replaced before Christmas, will be replaced again
since many have already failed. Larry McChesney is working with the lighting company where
the bulbs were purchased to request a refund for the cost of the bulbs and the scaffolding which
was rented for the work. We hope to schedule another time soon when the bulbs can be
replaced again.
Rasmussen Mechanical has been working with the boiler, and while there were some Sunday
mornings when we were heat-challenged, we are hopeful that the issue has been resolved for
the remainder of the season when heat is required.
Now that warmer weather is approaching, repairs to the parking lot will be upcoming. The Trus-
tees are investigating whether a more permanent repair to sections of the parking lot would be a
better use of our money than some patching which would be considered a temporary fix. We ap-
preciate everyone’s patience as we secure bids for this work.
We have been informed by the Finance Committee that there are memorial funds available for
permanent projects within the church (rather than routine maintenance issues), so we are con-
sidering different options. If any church members or committees have ideas for the Trustees to
consider, please submit them to Kathryn Hauswald or Janice Samson.
An all-church work day has been scheduled for Saturday, April 28, and indoor and outdoor tasks
will be available. Please consider being a part of the fun!
Security for our church family and our campus continues to be important. Please be diligent and
vocal if something is seen that seems out of the norm for the situation.
