The world's Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races and creeds.
Rotary History
Rotary began as the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905 by attorney Paul P. Harris. Mr Harris wished to recapture in a professional club the same friendly spirit he had felt in the small towns of his youth. The name "Rotary" derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members' offices.
Rotary Organization
Rotary is an international grassroots organization, with most of its service efforts being carried out at the club level.
The district and international structure is designed to help clubs provide more service in their local communities and abroad.

Before eradication efforts began in 1988, polio paralyzed more than 350,000 children annually.
Since Rotary began the Polio Plus campaign the incidence of polio has declined by more than 99%
