Solemnity of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ
June 23, 2019 FOCUS: Chr ist fulfills in the Euchar ist his prom-ise to be with his people always. As the source and summit of our faith, we celebrate Christ’s enduring presence with us in the mystery of the Eucharist. Here we encounter his love and healing, here we are strengthened and nourished to live the Gospel and to hope for a share in his eternal life. LITURGY OF THE WORD: Returning from bat-tle, Abraham meets the king of Salem who invites him to offer bread and wine to the Lord. In what is the first written account of the Last Supper, Saint Paul reminds us that he is handing on what he received regarding the true meaning of the Eucharist. Jesus welcomes the crowd and feeds them in the Gospel, instructing his disciples to do the same. REFLECTION: Jesus’ feeding the large crowd in "a deserted place" stirs our awareness of the Eucharist – the meal that keeps us together on our journey home. It is a nourishing food that addresses our present hun-gers and enables us to recognize Who is nourishing us day by day as we travel life’s difficult terrain. So we ask ourselves: In what "deserted place" do you find yourself these
days. What "daily bread" is God giving you in the midst
of your difficult journey?

Most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be, I learned in Kindergarten. Share everything…Play fair…Put things back where you found them…. Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody…Live a balanced life…Hold hands and stick together…Be aware of wonder. Robert Fulghum Who has taught these lessons so very well at Saint Cecilia School for the past 48 years in a little corner of paradise? None other than Mrs. Margie McGlynn-Haugh! St. Cecilia School has been blessed with Margie’s deep faith, positive life-giving spirit and strong desire to provide the best for everyone. She has taught her students and colleagues what is
most needed in life—to love God and to love others by reaching out and sharing your gifts. Mrs. McGlynn-Haugh began her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher in 1971 at St. Cecilia while attending Holy Family College. When the student population of our school kept growing in the seventies, it became evident that a Kindergarten program was needed. Mrs. McGlynn-Haugh opened the very first Kindergarten in 1977. From 1977 to the present Mrs. McGlynn-Haugh has served as a member of the Archdiocesan Early Childhood Curriculum Committee. By using her many gifts to design and develop kindergarten programs to meet the academic and social growth and development of the young child, she has impacted numerous early childhood programs throughout the Archdiocese. Saint Cecilia Church has always held a special place in Mrs. McGlynn-Haugh’s heart for it was here that she married her husband, Bill. They are blessed with a daughter, Courtney, a graduate of SCS, who today, is following in her mother’s footsteps as a kindergarten teacher. Now, it is time that we celebrate this very special teacher as she prepares to take a permanent vacation from her life’s work. We wish her well as she moves into retirement and enjoys leisure time with her family and friends. She will always have a special place in our hearts.

Three very special people from St. Cecilia School are moving onto other educational institutions. We are grateful to their time spent with us and wish them God’s blessings as they move on. Sister Patricia Healey Some people have a thoughtful way of living, a happiness they bring to every day in the helpful things they do for others, the smiles they share, and the caring words they say. This aptly describes Sister Patricia Healey who has served our school community as Assistant Principal for the past two years. In these two short years, Sister has endeared herself to us as she greeted our children each morning at the door, fostered an enthusiasm for learning within our students, encouraged and sup-
ported our faculty and staff, and shared her professional expertise with our administration. Our prayers and best wishes accompany Sister as she moves on to her new ministry at Saint James School in Falls Church, Virginia. We have no doubt that she will continue to make the lives of those around her a little better and a little brighter as she has made our lives at Saint Cecilia School. Ms. Christine Kerr What a blessing it is for a school community when one of their own graduates returns as a classroom teacher! Yes, that is what happened with Ms. Kerr who graduated from SCS, attended Little Flower High School and completed her education at Immaculata University. For the past three years, Ms. Kerr has shared her deep passion and love for literature and writing with her seventh grade students. Anyone who has had the oppor-tunity to observe her in action would confirm that she prepared her students very well for eighth grade with a strong foundation in the language arts. Ms. Kerr will be moving on to share her enthusiasm for teaching English at the high school level. Although we will miss her at Saint Cecilia School, we are happy that she is following her dream. We thank her for all that she has shared with our school community and we wish her well in her new adventure. Sister Christina Marie Roberts It didn’t take us long to discover Sister Christina’s many talents when she arrived at Saint Cecilia School last August to teach our sixth grade stu-dents. Not only did she know how to make math and science exciting, but she also knew how to win over her students with her culinary gifts. In addition, she shared her passion for music and her talent as a violinist by accompanying our school choir at our liturgies and performing at our Strings Concert and the Saint Cecilia Parish Talent Show. Our prayers and best wishes accompany Sister as she embraces her new ministry as a theology teacher at Bishop Shanahan High School. We have no doubt that she will have many opportunities to share her gifts in Chester County. Each of these women have been a gift to our school community during their time with us. We wish them well as they journey onward and pray they go forth with God’s blessings.
