Dear, parishioners, students and visitors,
Words of Thanks Last Sunday’s celebration (September 15th) was truly an unforgettable event. Words are not enough to ex press how each of you, as a member of a ministry or as an individual gave your contribution for the colleg iate Mass celebrated by our own Bishop William Wack. All of you played an important piece in this effort. May God bless all of you and all your endeavors.
Hispanic Heritage Month Every year from September 15th through October 15th, in the United States of America the Hispanic Community around the country is invited to celebrate and to reflect upon the contributions that everyone as Hispanic, brings to the country. The theme proposed for this year is: “A History of Serving our Nation”, gives light into the contribution of Hispanics to the growth of the nation, and their contributions that shaped the country. In this regard, we give thanks to the different people from the Hispanic heritage who contributed to the development of our nation, in areas such as culinary, art, architecture, lan- guage, religion, etc. Also, our own St. Eugene Catholic Mission Community represents many countries that the Hispanic presence is represented; from Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, EL Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Panama. Every country listed represents a different way of promoting the Hispanic presence in our religious community.
Being a Steward It is a meaningful way which Jesus uses to teach the disciples and the crowd who is always around to listen to him. In the gospel of today (Lk. 16:1-13), Jesus gives the example of a steward who squandered the property of his master and being fired used his “intelligence” to be considered “good” among those to whom he misused their trust and the confidence. By reading the gospel of the bad steward, most of the times you and I are tempted to judge the bad action of the steward, therefore, if one of us was the Bad Steward, and we were caught by our Master in the action, what should we do? How would we defend ourselves in front of the Master? Which words may I use? What does it mean for Jesus to be a good stew- ard? If we remember the example given by Jesus in the parable of the talents (Mt. 25:14-30, Lk. 19:11-27). Jesus teaches how all of us with talents given to us by God, must exercise our skills in announcing the Kingdom of God among us.
Perhaps, it is a moment of us to reflect: what does it mean to me being a steward?

It is a moment for the whole community to come together and taste the different delicacies prepared by our Hispanic Community. So, we already know what we must do next Saturday, I mean, Come, Eat, Laugh, and Enjoy.

La celebración del domingo pasado (15 de septiembre) fue realmente un evento inolvidable. Las palabras no son suficientes para
expresar cómo cada uno de ustedes, como miembro de un ministerio o como individuo, dió su contribución para la Misa univer-
sitaria celebrada por nuestro propio Obispo William Wack. Todos ustedes jugaron una pieza importante en este esfuerzo.
Que Dios los bendiga a todos ustedes y todos sus esfuerzos.
Mes de la Herencia Hispana
Todos los años, del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, en los Estados Unidos de América, se invita a la comunidad hispana de todo el país a
celebrar y reflexionar sobre las contribuciones que todos los hispanos aportan al país. El tema propuesto para este año es: "Una historia de
servicio a nuestra nación", da luz sobre la contribución de los hispanos al crecimiento de la nación, y sus contribuciones que dieron forma al
país. En este sentido, agradecemos a las diferentes personas de la herencia hispana que contribuyeron al desarrollo de nuestra nación, en áreas
como la culinaria, el arte, la arquitectura, el idioma, la religión, etc.
Además, nuestra propia Comunidad de la Misión Católica St. Eugene representa a muchos países en los que está representada la presencia
hispana; de México, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Argentina, República Domini-
cana, Costa Rica, Cuba y Panamá. Cada país en la lista representa una forma diferente de promover la presencia hispana en nuestra comuni-
dad religiosa.
Ser un Administrador/ Mayordomo Es una manera significativa que Jesús usa para enseñar a los discípulos y a la multitud que siempre está cerca para escucharlo. En el evangelio de hoy (Lucas 16: 1-13), Jesús da el ejemplo de un mayordomo que malgastó la propiedad de su maestro y que fue despedido usó su "inteligencia" para ser considerado "bueno" entre aquellos a quienes abusó de sus La confianza y la confi- anza. Al leer el evangelio del mayordomo malo, la mayoría de las veces usted y yo estamos tentados a juzgar la mala acción del mayordomo, por lo tanto, si uno de nosotros fue el mal mayordomo, y nuestro Maestro nos atrapó en la acción, ¿qué? ¿Deberiamos hacer? ¿Cómo nos defenderíamos frente al Maestro? ¿Qué palabras puedo usar? ¿Qué significa que Jesús sea un buen administrador? Si recordamos el ejemplo dado por Jesús en la parábola de los talentos (Mt. 25: 14-30, Lc. 19: 11-27). Jesús enseña cómo todos nosotros, con los talentos que Dios nos ha dado, debemos ejercer nuestras habilidades para anunciar el Reino de Dios entre nosotros.

Es un momento para que toda la comunidad se una y pruebe los diferentes manjares preparados por nuestra comunidad hispana.
