Safe Environment Training The Archdiocese of Louisville is committed to
ensuring that children and youth who worship, study or participate in church-sponsored
activities can do so in the safest and most secure setting possible. In an effort to fulfill this
commitment, all employees or volunteers who have contact with children or youth (18 and
under) for ANY length of time are required to participate in one of the Safe Environment Training Workshops. Saint James Catholic
Church will offer training Tuesday, October 15th at 6:30pm in Batcheldor Hall.
PARISH LIFE
October is Respect Life Month. Next Sunday, October 6th is
Respect Life Sunday.
Every year at this time The St. James Respect Life
Committee in support of The Kentucky Right to Life Heartland Association, solicits signees to a newspaper
page promoting the Right to Life. This page is published in the Elizabethtown News Enterprise on or
about January 22nd, the infamous date of the U.S. Supreme Court’s lamentable Roe v. Wade ruling.
Our committee members will man sign-up tables at the entrances of St. James after the Masses during the next two weekends, Oct 5/6 and Oct 12/13. A $5 donation is asked in order to add a person’s or family’s name to that
newspaper page. Some give more. No one is refused regardless of their inability to donate. The donations are used to pay for the newspaper page and to support the activities of the Kentucky Right to Life Heartland in its
Pro-Life efforts. Please add your name and support to this newspaper page advocating the Right To Life.
Also next weekend:
The 32nd Annual National Life Chain will take place next Sunday, October 6th from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. The National
Life Chain is the largest peaceful, prayerful, pro-life public witness in the world. More than 1500 cities across the US
and Canada are expected to participate. This event is hosted by Right to Life Kentucky Heartland, the local
affiliate of Kentucky Right to Life and National Right to Life. St. James will be participating in the Life Chain along
route 31W, in front of the LongHorn Steakhouse at the front of Towne Mall. Other locations including the
Cecilian Bank, near Pier 1 Imports a bit further North on 31W, are also available.
All Pro-Lifers who are willing to publicly stand for life and pray for an end to abortion in our land are
welcome. Families are encouraged to attend. Bring a lawn or beach chair if you wish. Please stand or sit on the public
sidewalk which is well clear of the roadway. For more information, call (270)765-2836.
Save the Date: November 2nd, 2019.
Crosses representing the cemetery of the unborn will be erected on the lawn of Dr. and Mrs. Godfrey again this
year. We will be asking for volunteers to help on that day. Details to follow.

STEWARDSHIP
Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading: Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4
Second Reading: 2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14
Gospel: Luke 17:5-10
Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading: Amos 6:1a, 4-7
Second Reading: 1 Timothy 6:11-16
Gospel: Luke 16:19-31
The readings today are a challenge for all believers to consider the eternal consequences of
our actions. God, in his infinite love, both calls us to himself and gives us the freedom to accept or
reject his invitation. We can allow comfort to make us complacent, or we can pursue noble
goods and be persuaded by the One who was raised from the dead.
Bulletin Deadline 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, the week before
publication. Please email items to: [email protected]
“[Abraham] said to [the rich man], ‘If they do not
listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be
persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
Luke 16:31
The dead rich man was afraid that his five brothers
would not learn the lesson he had learned. Abraham
replies that not even miracles will soften the heart of
someone blinded by selfishness. The focus of
stewards is always on Christ.
This bulletin is completely provided without charge through the advertisements on the back covers.
