We invite you to take a look at St. Luke Parish’s Electronic Giving Program. Make donations online via a secure network on a one-time or scheduled basis. Our Online Giving Option is
a great way to stay up to date with your donation schedule, during the busy summer and holiday months, and when you are unable to attend services.
The church also continues to benefit from the consistency in donation support and a reduction in check and cash processing time in the Pastoral Office. Plus, there is no cost involved. If you are interested in signing up or would like information, please call the Pastoral Office at (626) 291-5900 or visit the Parish Web site, www.stluketemplecity.org.

Writing my reflections weeks or months ahead of time there may arise situations in life that cause us to take pause and shuffle our original plans. I submit this observation by a
Franciscan priest sent to me by a parishioner that in light of our impending struggles we may see the positive that may come from looming fears and pandemic disaster.
Each of us are able always to make the choice of which path we follow or the lens through which we view events. As a Christian people, I believe my brother priest captures this moment precisely, forcing us to reflect upon this current darkness with an eye of hope.
Yes there is fear.Yes there is isolation.Yes there is panic buying.Yes there is sickness.Yes there is even death. But, They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noiseYou can hear the birds again. They say that after just a few weeks of quietThe sky is no longer thick with fumesBut blue and grey and clear. They say that in the streets of AssisiPeople are singing to each otheracross the empty squares, keeping their windows openso that those who are alonemay hear the sounds of family around them. They say that a hotel in the West of IrelandIs offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.Today a young woman I knowis busy spreading fliers with her numberthrough the neighborhoodSo that the elders may have someone to call on.Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Templesare preparing to welcomeand shelter the homeless, the sick, the wearyAll over the world people are slowing down and reflectingAll over the world people are looking at their neighbors in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new realityTo how big we really are.To how little control we really have.To what really matters. To Love.So we pray and we remember thatYes there is fear. But there does not have to be hate.Yes there is isolation. But there does not have to be loneliness.Yes there is panic buying. But there does not have to be meanness.Yes there is sickness. But there does not have to be disease of the soulYes there is even death. But there can always be a rebirth of love.Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.Today, breathe.Listen, behind the factory noises of your panicThe birds are singing againThe sky is clearing,Spring is coming,And we are always encompassed by Love.Open the windows of your soulAnd though you may not be ableto touch across the empty square,Sing. -Fr. Richard Hendrick, OFM

Early abuse identification is keyWe can do our best to ensure that the children in our community are as safe as possible, and one critical way is to take immediate action at the first hint of improper behavior by an adult towards a child.
Be familiar with ways in which perpetrators attempt to groom children, their parents, and church communities so that you can recognize and interrupt such behaviors promptly. Paying attention to changes in behavior, appetite, or demeanor in the children we know is also important as these cues may be reflective of a child’s distress.
