SHARE THE HOPE The readings for today's celebra on of the Ascension of the Lord once again remind us that as Chris ans we are people of hope. In the second reading Saint Paul eloquently exhorts the Ephesians to enlighten their hearts so that they will know the hope and glory that come from being people who place their trust in the Lord Jesus. In the story of the Ascension, recounted in the first reading, the Lord Jesus assures the disciples that the Holy Spirit's power will come upon them. Finally, in the Gospel, the Lord lets the disciples know that their mission is to spread the hope of the gospel to all the na ons. This wonderful feast keeps our eyes focused on the hope in which we were grounded on the day of our bap sm.

SAINT PAUL SCHOOL NEWS

Although we are always grateful for our amazing teachers and staff at Saint Paul every day, we designated the week of May 8th through May 12th to show them our apprecia on for all they do for our school. We started off the week by serving a delicious

breakfast and followed up on Thursday by hos ng lunch for them.

Saint Paul strives to educate the whole child. Each of these individuals has worked relessly to help each student develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially. We are truly blessed.

Success Begins @ Saint Paul. Go Knights!

A er the angel Gabriel had announced to Mary that she was to become the mother of Our Lord, Mary went from Galilee to Judea to visit her kinswoman

Elizabeth, soon to be the mother of John the Bap st. This visit is recorded in Luke 1:39-56. Elizabeth greeted Mary with the words,

"Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."

Mary burst forth with the song of praise which we call the Magnificat, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." (Luke 1:46–55), the can cle that has tradi onally been reserved for this feast day.

Feeling the presence of his Divine Savior, John, upon hearing the voice of Mary, leaped in the womb of his mother; he was then cleansed from original sin and filled with the grace of God.

The Visita on is the second Joyful Mystery of the Rosary.

Thus we are shown, side by side, the two women, one seemingly too old to have a child, but des ned to bear the last prophet of the Old Covenant, of the age that was passing away; and the other woman, seemingly not ready to have a child, but des ned to

bear the One Who was Himself the beginning of the New Covenant, the age that would not pass away.

It is this mee ng that we celebrate on May 31st.

divine mercy on behalf of all inmates, families, and especially for vic ms of their crimes on both sides of prison walls.

Dismas Union of Prayer booklets available at the atrium and side entrances have been generously re-supplied by the Knights of Columbus. The mission is to promote

ASKING ASSISTANCE FOR FR. PAUL BRANT, SJ

The 24 year old Toyota Previa van which I bought second-hand from a St Paul´s family in 2004 has served me well for Hispanic Ministry and Cursillo, Masses in the field and workshops and retreats requiring me to move materials and occasionally people. It has been on its last legs for a year. The prognosis of the most recent inspec on is that it is safe to operate, but may “expire” at any moment. Now, it is impossible to get replacement parts, even used ones, to make needed repairs. Translated “when it quits, the only alterna ve is the junkyard.” /

So, I am asking if anyone has, or can help me find, an oldie but goodie replacement, serviceable and in safe condi on, not needing major repairs: an Odyssey or Sienna, Grand Caravan, Town and Country, Chevy Astro or GMC Safari, Ford Aerostar, or other small cargo van, 15 years old or less. Mileage and cosme cs not too important , but with 15-20,000 miles le so it will last as long as I do without major investment. Preferably, a charitable dona on, but I welcome leads for a low price if the vehicle fits the descrip on. Meanwhile, pray that my “gentle touch” will keep the Previa on the road un l it breathes its last.

Thanks. Fr. Paul Brant, sj, now at St Therese Parish, Wilson (252-229-0584).
