Preventive & Proactive Goal is to keep the student in the classroom Designed to encourage & empower students to
take responsibility for their own actions It is NOT intended to be disciplinary or punitive
but instead is positive behavior support
Role as a FOCUS Redirector Monitor Daily attendance Communication between FOCUS & Classroom
Teachers – teacher boxes, hallway, radios, e-mails FOCUS & the Office Referrals of prospective students for the program

Become acquainted with students Request a Redirector before student behavior
is out of control (Preventive & Proactive) Call prior to writing a referral Consistently communicate with FOCUS
Personnel Continue to make parent contacts and log
incidents per Sam Houston policy
