• Invite an Operation Christmas Child representative to share about the project at assembly.
• Download primary or secondary school teacher’s resources from our website.
TAKE ACTION
• At the beginning of term three, encourage your students to begin collecting items for shoeboxes.
• Have a Packing Party in October for your school where everyone brings their gifts and packs shoeboxes. Download a ‘How to Host a Shoebox Packing Party’ guide from our website.
VOLUNTEER
• Contact your local processing centre and arrange for your older students to volunteer to help process shoeboxes.

HOW TO PACK A SHOEBOX
FOR STORIES AND VIDEOS, VISIT operationchristmaschild.org.au
SOMETHING TO WEAR: t-shirt, polo shirt, shorts, skirt, cap, beanie, sandals, etc. SOMETHING TO LOVE: teddy bear, doll, soft toy, etc. SOMETHING SPECIAL: carry bag, sunglasses, bangles, stickers, necklaces, craft kits, a personal note, a photo of yourself, etc.
SOMETHING FOR SCHOOL: exercise book, pencil case, pens, pencils, colouring pencils, sharpener, eraser, chalk, etc.
SOMETHING TO PLAY WITH: tennis ball, cars, skipping rope, marbles, musical instrument, yo-yo, slinky, finger puppets, wind-up torch, etc.
SOMETHING FOR PERSONAL HYGIENE: soap and face washer, toothbrush, hairbrush, comb, scrunchies, hair-clips, etc.

1 Location: Determine a location, date and a shoebox collection goal for your school.
2 Resources: Access videos, photos, recipient impact stories, downloadable colouring pages, local Drop Off Points, and other resources at operationchristmaschild.org.au.
3 Gather Supplies: Gifts: Ask students to bring appropriate items to fill the shoeboxes as well as the $9 donation for each box. Empty boxes: Ask students to bring empty shoeboxes, ask local shoe stores for empty boxes, or order pre-printed shoeboxes on our website. Photos/Letters: Ask students to bring photos, or plan to take pictures at the party. Include them, along with a personal note, in each of the shoeboxes.
4 Gather Snacks and Get Creative: Try international foods from countries where shoeboxes are delivered. Show Operation Christmas Child videos as you enjoy your snacks.
5 Prepare Boxes: Set up stations for wrapping boxes (lid separately), packing boxes with gifts and writing letters. Try to include gifts from each of the 6 categories shown on the ‘How to Pack a Shoebox’ page.
6 Include Donation: A $9 donation per shoebox is essential to enable us to cover the costs of Operation Christmas Child. Donations can be made online or by cash, cheque (payable to Samaritan’s Purse Australasia-Operation Christmas Child) or credit card using the form on our ‘How to Pack a Shoebox’ brochure, which is downloadable online.
