QlikView Governance

Page 2: Sand Governance for QlikView

• If the analysis are for more than one business area and they use cross metrics between them

• If you often perform data load processes to keep "fresh"

analysis and data sources are shared.

• When you need to optimize the use of available licenses and manage user access to the service.

• When you need to have the certainty that the same data (Ex:

Sales) is the same in all load processes of each analysis and subsequently is shown consistently.

• When it is essential to know what information sources are

already available for a new project planned and if our current infrastructure support the volume.

• When it is essential to monitor and ensure that information is

properly loaded in each loading cycle.

When you need Governance?

Disk Space Monitoring Tool This tool allows monitoring the space occupied by QlikView documents and directories where files with information (QVD, Excel, TXT ...) reside anticipate to allow the correct dimensioning of the disks and alerts when a preset size is reached. The objectives of this tool are: Monitoring the increase in physical space by application, layer, folders. Comparation between initially estimated space and the actually used. Space consumption alerts predefined.

Extractor Uploading Monitor Tool This tool allows you to monitor the regular updating of the different types of QVD files generated by scripts and QlikView connectors. The objectives of this tool are:

Checking QVD generation.

Analysis QVD generation by application layer type, folder ...

Analysis of predefined alerts.

Loading Tasks Visual Tool This tool enables, in a very intuitive and simple way, to get a graphical view of job scheduling on the server, facilitating the understanding of planning new tasks. It lets analyze what time may be running multiple tasks simultaneously, to determine whether there may be a case of saturation of executions. The objectives of this tool are:

Analysis of the current planning day, application layer, document ...

Tasks historical analysis of application layer, document ... Predefined alerts on current planning.

Analysis of the impact of the introduction of new tasks.

QVD Tracker Tool This tool monitors the QVD files and their associated metadata. It allows setting a percentage change certain parameters, to show abnormal behaviour related alerts The objectives of this tool are:

Analysis of the characteristics of the QVD, showing details of the QVD files, file size, number of records, number of columns, change over time and allows you to establish thresholds of QVD growth for those who have grown more than expected

Report all fields and tables of QVD files

Data Dictionary. Displays, from a completed Excel spread sheet, allows data traceability from origin to:

• QlikView document

• The table and field in the data source

• QVD file and column to which that information is exported

Unused Fields Tool Resource optimization tool that tracks the Script and objects that make up the graphical interface of a QlikView document in search of those fields, the data model that are not being used. This tool is very useful for analysing an application and delete fields that are increasing the memory space and therefore consume resources and are not really needed. Details of the amount of space that can be saved for each unused field that is removed from the model shown

Users & Licenses Management Tool This tool performs an analysis of the users running applications and their usage patterns. Based on this analysis to determine the most appropriate type of license and the correct assignment to users. The objectives of this tool are:

Analysis of the documents used by users and their time averages of use, providing information extracted from the company LDAP (Domain User Groups).

Comparison of the number of users has estimated each department QlikView document or the actual number of users who are making use of the QlikView document.

Proposal most appropriate type Licenses

Proposed allocation of licenses.

Analysis of predefined alerts.

Platform Deployment Simulator This application allows you to anticipate the size will reach a QlikView file from different parameters, allowing the simulation of the amount of resources needed in the QlikView environment. The objectives of this tool are:

Anticipating the possible disk size that can occupy a QlikView document.

Set capabilities of the server that hosts the QlikView documents.

Check that the future implementation will fit within the current implementation.

Calculate the number and type of licenses that may be required.
