High School
15 - 20 % increase in car accidents involving teens when they start school earlier;
increased absenteeism and tardiness;
increased abuse of substances, drugs, alcohol
increased depression and emotional difficulties;
increased behavioral problems;
decreased academic performance; decreased athletic performance and difficulty in muscle
recovery - potentially leading to greater number of sports injuries and slower recovery time following injuries;

Pay freeze – The governor has asked districts to freeze pay for employees. The administration has entered a dialogue with the unions about a pay freeze for teachers, staff and administrators.

senior Kiersten Robertson was killed.
Richland Area High School Superintendent Tom Fleming described Kiersten as upbeat, positive, bubbly. He said she was very well loved by everyone who knew her and lots of friends. Fleming said Kiersten had been a swimmer and a dancer. She was supposed to have been in the March 4-6 performance of the high school musical.
