Purpose of Today’s Briefing
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
completes a comprehensive criminal investigation just as they would investigate any other homicide that would occur in our jurisdiction
The Pasco Police will conduct their own administrative investigation with their Internal Affairs Investigator.
The 2 investigations happen concurrently but separately.
Criminal Vs. Administrative
As in any homicide investigation, we can’t
comment on issues that would jeopardize the integrity of the investigation.
We can’t provide analysis of the investigation to this point.
We can explain the current status of the investigation and what will happen next to provide a tentative timeline for new information to be released.

What Can You Do
Antonio Zambrano-Montes was not armed with
a gun or knife. Video shows that he had thrown at least one rock. Investigation continues on whether he was still armed with a rock when he was shot.
