ing, of enforced prostitution, and of violence.
ASH WEDNESDAY MARCH 6TH The first day of The Lenten season
The 2019 Lenten season begins with the March 6th obser-
vance of Ash Wednesday. Regulations pertaining to fasting
and abstinence are printed below. The Catholic Church asks
each person to preserve the penitential character and pur-
pose of Lent. For this reason, Catholics who have cele-
brated their 14th birthday are bound to abstain from meat
on Ash Wednesday and each Friday of Lent. Catholics who
have celebrated their 18th birthday, in addition to ab-
staining from meat, should fast on Ash Wednesday and
Good Friday. Hence, on those days they should eat only one
full meal. Smaller quantities of food may be taken at two
other meals, but no food should be consumed at other times
during those two days. The obligation of fasting ceases
with the celebration of one’s 59th birthday. Catholics
should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed
minimal penitential practices.

Ministry of moving people experiencing homelessness into
homes, jobs, and a fuller experience of life. We are a minis-
try of the Racine Dominican Sisters. The cost is $20 ad-
vance, $25 at the door, $10 for children, under six are free.
To get advance tickets contact the HOPES office at 896-
2940 or Siena Center.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING 2/24 Historically, the lack of public awareness regarding issues
of human trafficking was mistaken for domestic abuse or
prostitution. In the 80's & 90's children as young as 12 were
locked up for prostitution; in reality, they were being traf-
ficked.
Racial & economic segregation created isolated communi-
ties that didn't have adequate police protection resulting in a
"family business" that was cultivated over generations.
