Allure West Studios photogra-pher Natalie Wi will travel to Haiti

Nov. 8–15 with the nonprofit,Poverty Resolutions, to aid thegroup’s mission of building a tran-sition center and to begin work on apersonal photography project.

“I am a wife, parent, small busi-ness owner and artist and often findmyself easily caught up in my ownworld, losing sight of what is trulyimportant in life,” Wi said. “Theopportunity to join Poverty Resolu-tions on their mission presenteditself shortly after I began my questfor personal and professional inspi-ration.”

She will be photographing thepeople of Haiti and hopes to createan interactive to help young men intransition learn business skills andlife lessons.

Wi is raising money to invest inFujifilm Instax Instant Film cam-eras to use during the workshops.

Hop on your bike and join thecause for the third annual Cranks-giving Bike Ride & Food Drivesponsored by Doylestown BikeWorks. The bike shop hosts thecharity bicycle ride, departing at 10a.m. Sunday Nov. 9, from CentralBucks West High School’s studentparking lot. It will cover roughly 30to 35 miles of easy-paced riding.

The purpose of the event is tohelp stock the food pantry operatedby the Bucks County HousingGroup going into the busy winter

months. The ride visits three localsupermarkets where riders will pur-chase canned goods, which will becollected by volunteers stationed ateach store.

The ride occurs on scenic sec-ondary roads and will be fully sup-ported by Doylestown Bike Works.Helmets are mandatory, and regis-tration is free and can be doneahead of time by visiting,bikereg.com/bikeworkscranksgiv-ing or in person the day of theevent.

Chalfont’s Villa d'Braccia hasbeen selected for the 40th BucksCounty Designer House and Gar-dens tour.

The Mediterranean-styled villaoffers a unusual setting for theDesigner House. The house is ona 4-acre gated property through apair of elegant gates.

"In building this house, I want-ed to bring the style of my nativeItaly to my new home in beautifulBucks County," owner NickBraccia said. "Since then, wehave enjoyed many family mem-ories and culinary celebrationshosted by my wife, Lisa. We areproud to offer our home as the2015 Bucks County DesignerHouse and Gardens – opening itto the community in support ofDoylestown Hospital and the mis-sion of the Village Improvement

Association of Doylestown."“While Villa d'Braccia is one of

our youngest designer homes, hav-ing been built in 1987, old-worldcraftsmanship abounds,” said Bar-bara Ann Price, marketing chair.“The 7,800-square-foot house hasa master bedroom suite on the firstfloor and four generous bedroomsupstairs, each accessed from awrap-around gallery that overlooksthe entry's grand butterfly staircaseand family room.”

The kitchen has handcraftedcherry cabinets and granite coun-ters. The home's lower level is anentertainment space with a 20-foot two-sided rock-faced fire-place that divides the room with awet bar and game area on one sideand room to relax on the other.

Outside areas include a coveredporches, upper balconies, a gaze-

bo with barbeque, a wisteriaarbor. and a volleyball sand court.

The 2015 Bucks CountyDesigner House and Gardens willbe open for tours April 26 to May30, excluding Memorial Day.

Preview Events include theEmpty House Party on SundayMarch 1, and the Preview Gala onApril 24. Special events in Mayinclude a fashion show and Moth-er's Day brunch and a closingBlue Jean Bash.

Proceeds from the DesignerHouse contribute to the VillageImprovement Association's $1million pledge to renovate theVIA Maternity Center atDoylestown Hospital and to ful-filling the VIA's mission.

Designers, landscapers, artists,craftspeople and businesses areinvited to participate in and to

support the fundraising event,which attracts more than 8,000visitors each year.

Chalfont’s Villa d’Braccia is 40th VIA Designer House

Area photographer headed for Haiti

“Cranksgiving” bike ride

to stock food pantry

A tree-lined driveway leads to Villa d’Braccia, the next Bucks County Designer House.

PennDOT announced thatnearly $6.6 million in AutomatedRed Light Enforcement (ARLE)funding will be distributed to 37municipalities statewide to fund41 safety projects.

The law specifies that projectsimproving safety, enhancingmobility and reducing congestioncan be considered for funding.Municipalities submitted morethan 226 applications, totalingapproximately $36.6 million.

In Bucks County, DoylestownTownship was awarded $48,500to upgrade to traffic-volumedetection technology thatimproves traffic flow at the inter-section of Upper State Road andAlmshouse Road. WrightstownTownship received $157,020 tooptimize the traffic signal timingfor the morning, mid-day andafternoon peak hours as well addtraffic-volume detection at fourintersections.
