Siemens offers the following two RFID systems for the HF range:• SIMATIC RF200:
The compact and low-cost RFID system in accordance with ISO 15693. Read devices with IO-Link interface are pro-vided for particularly simple and open identification solu-tions.
• SIMATIC RF300: For the most demanding requirements in terms of speed, data volume and diagnostics functionality, the RF300 mode with separate transponders is available. The power-ful RFID system can be operated with ISO 15693 transpon-ders to meet average performance requirements.

SIMATIC RF200 – The compact RFID starter system in the HF range
SIMATIC RF200 is the compact RFID starter system for applica-tions in the low to mid performance range. The product range comprises cost-efficient RF readers that are ideal for use in small assembly lines or in intralogistics. SIMATIC RF200 read-ers only support the RFID standard ISO 15693 and are there-fore designed for operation with our extensive range of ISO transponders (MOBY D).

Commissioning and error diagnostics are extremely easy with SIMATIC RF200. Thanks to the M12 connector concept, all the connections match other automation components such as ECOFAST and SIMATIC. Integration into communication net-works such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Ethernet, as well as PC en-vironments or IO-Link is also possible.
Whichever RFID system you connect to SIMATIC PLCs, PCs or PLCs from other manufacturers: the communication module performs the necessary adaptation. Communication modules can be used in both manufacturing and logistics. The readers of all RFID systems can be operated in the same manner using the function block FB 101 (Ident profile). This ensures that existing RFID applications can be used immediately and do not need to be rewritten as soon as a different reader type is used.A broad range of communication modules, convenient diag-nostic functions, function blocks and high-performance driv-ers and function libraries support quick and easy integration into the application. And the best thing is, SIMATIC RF200 is part of Totally Integrated Automation and can be integrated easily and cost-effectively into the SIMATIC world.

IO-Link master modules
The IO-Link interface allows the SIMATIC RF200 readers to be connected to the controller through an appropriate IO-Link master module as already offered by many well-known suppli-ers of automation solutions.
Siemens offers master modules for the SIMATIC ET 200eco PN distributed I/O system at the field level and for ET 200S and ET 200SP in the control cabinet which support seamless inte-gration in the established PROFINET and PROFIBUS fieldbuses, and also therefore in the world of Totally Integrated Automa-tion.
All master modules allow up to 4 SIMATIC RF200 IO-Link read-ers to be connected. RFID-specific programming is not re-quired.
Parameter assignment is easy and convenient to carry out us-ing the Port Configuration Tool (PCT). This can be called in STEP 7 under hardware configuration. A stand-alone variant is available for downloading from the Internet free of charge for connecting to automation systems from other manufacturers. A device description file (IODD file) is available on the Internet which enables the PCT tool to know the IO-Link reader imme-diately complete with all variable names and parameter set-tings.
