possible thanks to a major nationalretailer. Belk has partnered with TheFayetteville Observer for a secondyear to boost Ladies Night Out’sstatus as one of the region’s premierevents for women.
The relationship benefits both theevent and the North Carolina baseddepartment store.
“We are very proud of the fact that wewere asked to be the lead sponsor
of the event,” said Joel Johnson,manager of the Fayetteville Belkstore. “To have an event like this -with fun, comedy and guest speakers- you are able to go out to the peoplerather than them come to your store… It’s a mutually-beneficial event.”
Belk brings clothing, jewelry andfragrances to the party, as well as afashion show and participation inon-stage makeovers. Johnson saidthe event matches Belk’s creedperfectly.

“Ladies Night Out was created as anopportunity for our female readersand other members of the communityto come together and have a goodtime, and even get a little educationabout fashion,” she said.
Belk is sponsoring a shoe showdown,awarding a prize to the lady attendeewith the wildest footwear. Belk willalso have prize giveaways – includinghandbags and shoes from majordesigners.
Johnson said Ladies Night Out giveshis company a chance to interact withwomen who may not be customers.Belk plans on having something foreveryone.
“We are bringing Belk. It’s anoutreach opportunity for us,” Johnsonsaid. “This gives us an opportunityto reach out to the customer whomay not know what all we carry in thestore.

Sharon Moyer, theevents manager at TheFayetteville Observer,says booking Townsendwas a coup for the
Ladies Night Out event.
“You don’t see alot of nationally-known comedienne’sperforming in theFayetteville market,”she said. “She performsclean comedy, and Ithink a lot of the ladiesat our event will beable to relate to herobservational humor.”
Townsend will be thefirst national act toappear on the LNOstage. It’s a testamentto the event’s growth.
“We are excited to havesomeone of her caliber thisyear as entertainment,”Moyer said. “We can’twait to see the energy shebrings to such an alreadyelectric event.”
Townsend’s comedy will be ahighlight of this year’s event.
