SPMT– Self-Propelled Modular Transporters
SPMT Technology – Extremely robust, extremely high
load-bearing capacity
SPMTs (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters)from SCHEUERLE carry enormous pieces ofequipment and plant in many areas of theworld. The SCHEUERLE modular transporteris based on the experience gained from thedevelopment and production of more than5,000 axle lines. With our technology, loadsof 15,000 tonnes and more are transportedsafely and reliably to their places of use, e.g.factory modules for power stations, seawaterdesalination installations and oil explorationequipment as well as offshore platforms.
SPMT – your advantages:Development and production ofmore than 5,000 axle lines
Extensive experience in customerqualification profiles through closecooperation in the productdevelopment phase
International network of sales, support and after-sales
Functional and reliable proprietarysteering technology
Extremely durable and high load-bearing vehicle construction
Loadable on container flat racksdue to compact vehicle dimensions

SPMT in loose coupling mode – vehicles are connected using onlya data link
The use of SPMT modular transpor-ters in combination with SCHEUERLE-developed steering technology,"STEPS.3" (SCHEUERLE TransportElectronic Processor System, 3rdGeneration), allows the exact positio-ning of ultra-heavy loads. The indivi-dual modules can be linked with oneanother in any combination, can becoupled mechanically or in loosecoupling mode in an areal of 600m x600m. STEPS.3 technology guaran-tees synchronised steering of alltransportation units integrated in thevehicle group. The electronically con-trolled multi-directional steering spe-cially developed by SCHEUERLEensures that the combinations areextremely flexible and manoeuvrable.
14,350 tonnes on its way to the sea.For the transportation of an oil and agas production platform along theapprox. 200-metre route, modulartransporters were positioned in sevenrows under the load. Altogether, 500axle lines with 2000 wheels were used.

STEPS.3 – Steering Technology
The 3rd generation of self-propelled modular trans-porters (SPMT) are equipped with the new "STEPS.3steering technology" (SCHEUERLE TransportElectronic Processor System: 3rd generation). This3rd generation covers all further developments in thevehicle sector and guarantees compatibility to previ-ous modular transporter generations.
With this, SCHEUERLE provides reliable steering tech-nology to deal with the special requirements presentin heavy load transport whereby all functions betweenthe individual vehicle units are synchronized. In coup-ling mode, one transporter unit is selected as the
"master unit". From this master, all other transporterunits receive appropriate control commands for stee-ring, traction drive, braking etc., irrespective of theirquantity.

Also in the area of self-propelled and towed plat-form vehicles, SCHEUERLE offers a further variationfor heavy duty transportation with its InterCombiprogramme. The InterCombi vehicles can be usednot only on roads as trailers or semi-trailers fortransportation speeds up to 80 km/h, but also as aself-propelled platform vehicle with power pack unit(PPU). The PPU can be used also on open roads as asupporting drive unit for tackling longer upwardgradients.

InterCombi – the alternative for heavy transportation on the roads and inindustry
The InterCombi platform trailer has been designed to handlethe heavy demands placed by long distance transportation onthe roads as well as the special require-ments involved in moving enormous loads of plant and construction units on site. For frequently changing areas of application, the InterCombi- series from SCHEUERLE provides the operator with a cost-effective and reliable alternative.

The history of heavy-duty transporters across the worldis closely connected with the name of SCHEUERLE. TheSCHEUERLE Fahrzeugfabrik GmbH has its origins in aforge founded by Christian Scheuerle in 1869. Hisgrandson, Willy Scheuerle, began the development ofheavy-duty transportation vehicles in 1937. Willy’sinnovative ideas have inspired the entire industry andrevolutionized the transport of the heaviest loads inmany sectors of industry. Thus, heavy-duty vehiclesfrom SCHEUERLE are used in shipyards, the offshoreindustry, iron and steel plants, for bridge and tunnelconstruction, in the air and space industries as well asroad haulage around the world.
Since 1987, SCHEUERLE Fahrzeugfabrik GmbH hasbeen part of the TII Group (Transporter IndustryInternational) belonging to the German industrialist,Otto Rettenmaier.
