• Why did I undertake this initiative ?
• 800 million active Android devices by 2013 = big mobile data , big mobile developer community
• Starting to get considerable demand from Splunk developers for mobile capabilities
• I really believe that mobile is the future for delivery of data insights & data driven applications , Splunk is the perfect back end platform.

What is the Splunk SDK for Android• Cousin to the Splunk SDK for Java
• Will mirror Splunk SDK for Java releases to a certain extent
• Refactored and recompiled for the Dalvik VM runtime• Primarily the XML streaming classes
• Reduced footprint to better suit the mobile environment, 1 single jar , as small in size as possible
• Utility classes to make common tasks easier• logging to Splunk• searching Splunk• pulling system/device/sensor metrics from Android and logging to Splunk
• Preview currently published to Splunkbase , plan to move it to an official Splunk supported SDK• https://github.com/damiendallimore/splunk-sdk-android
• Developed against Android version 4.2 (JellyBean)
