With origins as a tavern and coaching inn from the early 1600s, The Spread Eagle had, by Victorian times, also gained a reputation as an excellent restaurant. Today it is still a landmark; setting the standard for fine food in Greenwich. This is West End dining away from the stress of the city.
As you enter The Spread Eagle you are immediately enveloped by the classic surroundings. The walls are mounted with exquisite artwork featuring a range of distinguished artists and illustrators from the 17th century who were inspired by Greenwich. The main dining room, with its distinctive chandeliers, stylish furnishings and striking iron spiral staircase, creates a perfect setting to a sumptuous French banquet with character.

The Spread Eagle can be hired for a variety of intimate occasions. We have two main areas where you can chose to host your event, or the option of hiring the entire restaurant if your event requires so.
At the top of the grand spiral staircase is our first floor private dining room. The elegant framed artwork embellishes the walls and the classic sash windows flood the room with natural daylight. Adding to the character of the first floor are the wooden beams that stretch across the ceiling and the delicate arrangements of fresh flowers displayed around the restaurant.
Our ground floor private Dining Room can be found behind a glass panelled door, off our main dining area. Handsome wooden panels grace the walls of this room, whilst a majestic chandelier is suspended above a rich wooden table. Being able to seat 12 guests, this provides an intimate yet chic surrounding for any occasion.
