not just talk, but to
take action to help
someone.
They read some news
articles about a female Marine lieutenant who was in charge of a

“Pi” Day in Team B at Springboro Intermediat
March 14th is not your average day in a math classroom. Why? Because March 14th is nationally known as "Pi D
being the 14th day of the 3rd month or 3/14). Of course, when students at Springboro Intermediate were informePi Day," many students thought "Pie" like the food. So some students were greatly disappointed when Mrs. H said
would celebrate "Pi" the number, not the food.
Wearing her "I love Pi" shirt and hat, students knew they were in for one of Mrs. H's crazy antics. She raced around
oom asking students to measure circumferences and diameters of circle after circle. The circles ranged from hula howimming pool inner tubes, fruit loops, cookies, and of course pies. While students reviewed the terminology assted with circles, they also began to appreciate the relationship between a circle's circumference and diameter. As
measured both big and small circles, they realized that the ratio between circumference and diameter was always ab and a little bit more. Soon, the little light bulbs started to go off, and the students realized that 3 plus a little bit m
was nearly pi (3.14159....).
The celebration of pi and its importance in the math world even spilled over into students' reading class. Mrs. Guinthtudy of poetry allowed students the opportunity to reect their learning through limericks, cinquains, haikus, and
verse poetry.

The Tragic Accident
Tuesday, January 11, 2011, was a sad day for Don and Lori Reeves of Springboro and for their family and friends. Tmorning their 19-year-old daughter, Holly, had left home to return to college in Anderson, IN. There had been an adent near Richmond, Indiana, on I-70 that authorities were clearing away when Holly came upon the scene. Directe
he other lane, Holly hit a patch of ice, and her car swerved into a semi-truck which sheared off the top of her car. Aemoving her from the car, which took some time, she was taken to a Richmond hospital and ultimately transporte
Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
The Diagnosis and the Surprise
Upon her arrival at Miami Valley, Holly was pronounced brain dead. Her parents began to discuss donating her orgnd other such end-of-life issues. And then God stepped in! Holly began to move! The doctors were visibly surprnd immediately began to make plans to nd out the extent of her injuries. Removing a piece of her left skull to rel
pressure, they found that her brain was not injured as badly as they had rst thought. Surgery was successful, and the days and weeks of waiting began. Slowly Holly began moving. Of course, doctors had placed her in an induced c
which she remained in and is still partially in at this time. As her parents kept vigil, they’d see her move more, opeye and occasionally respond to some simple commands like “Squeeze my hand twice if you hear me.”
The People and the Prayers
People all over the nation began to hear the story, and prayers went up for Holly and her family. To this day, theyhearing of people, whom Don and Lori have never met and do not know, who are daily praying for their daughter. Thurch, their employers and thousands upon thousands of others have rallied to their support. As Don said, “Of cou’d rather this had never happened to my girl, but the blessings we’ve experienced are beyond description. People h
been so good to us.”
Our Part
Soon it will be time for Holly to begin rehabilitation therapy of all kinds. We are hoping to be able to help the family whe many extra expenses involved. And so his friends at George Steel, Don’s employer, have set up the Reeves Fam
Donation Account to which you may contribute at any of the LCNB branches. May God bless you as you help this famt this very difcult time in their lives.
